2013 IFAF Women's World Championship
The 2013 IFAF Women's World Championship was the second IFAF Women's World Championship, an American football competition for women. It took place between 30 June and 6 July 2013. The tournament was hosted at the ISS Stadion in Vantaa, Finland. The defending champion, the United States, won its second title after defeating Canada 64–0 in the final. American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. Zinkensdamm
Zinkensdamm is an area and a former manor in Södermalm in inner Stockholm. The Zinkensdamm manor was demolished. The name is today used for Zinkensdamm metro station and the sports ground Zinkensdamms IP. History Wealthy customs manager Wilhelm Böös Drakenhielm, who was active in the mid 17th century, placed his wealth in agricultural real estate. He bought a large property in this area in 1668. The area was mountainous and not suitable to be built upon, and Drakenhielm probably bought the land to have some carp ponds, which was considered "a must" for a wealthy person of that time. After Drakenhielm's finances deteriorated, royal councillor Claes Fleming (1649-1685) took over. Following his death in 1685, in the same year, his widow Anna Cruus sold the property to the merchant Frantz Zinck, who was a large supplier of textiles to the Swedish crown, for a sum of 36,000 Swedish riksdaler (copper). IFAF Women's World Championship
The IFAF Women's World Championship is the international championship for women in American football. The first event was held in 2010, in Stockholm, Sweden, with six countries competing. The United States took home the gold while not letting any team they played score. The second event was held in 2013, with Vantaa, Finland, hosting the games. The United States swept the competitors again, winning the gold medal. Third event was played in 2017 with Canada as the host nation. The U.S. took the gold medal for the third time, again beating the host nation Canada in the final. In December 2018 IFAF announced that Finland will host the final tournament in 2021.
