2010 European Athletics Championships
The 2010 European Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the European Athletics Championships, organised under the supervision of the European Athletic Association. They were held at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain from 27 July to 1 August 2010. Barcelona was the first Spanish city to host the European Championships. Barni was the mascot of the event, he was the main promotional tool of the Championship. His name comes from Barna and was designed by the workshop Dortoka. Werner Günthör
Werner Günthör (born 1 June 1961 in Uttwil) is a former Switzerland, Swiss track and field athlete, who was the best shot putter in the history of Swiss track and field. Biography Günthör won three straight World Championships, 1987 World Championships in Athletics, 1987, 1991 World Championships in Athletics, 1991, and 1993 World Championships in Athletics, 1993, as well as one European Championship in 1986 European Championships in Athletics, 1986. At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul he won the bronze medal. His personal best throw, and Swiss record, was 22.75 metres, achieved in August 1988 in Bern. The 2.00 meter tall athlete also competed in the bobsleigh. He trained to be a sanitation installer but later completed study in sports and works today as a sport teacher and track and field coach. Nedžad Mulabegović (born 4 February 1981) is a Croatian shot putter of Bosniak origin. His personal best throw is 20.67 metres, achieved in July 2014 in Varaždin, Croatia. David Storl
David Storl (born 27 July 1990) is a German track and field athlete who specialises in the shot put. He was successful on the youth and junior athletics circuit, winning gold medals at the World Youth Championships and World Junior Championships. Storl won his first senior medal, a silver, at the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships. He held the world junior record of 22.73 m with the 6 kg shot. His personal best with the senior implement is 22.20 m. He won the gold medal in the shot put competition at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics, and the Silver Medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Andrei Anatolyevich Mikhnevich (, ; born 12 July 1976 in Babruysk) is a Belarusian shot putter with a personal best of 21.69 metres, set in 2003. In 2013 he was banned from sports for life due to his second doping positive. He started competing at global championships in 1999 and attended the 2000 Summer Olympics, but he was banned for a doping offence in 2001. He returned after a two-year suspension and promptly became the shot put world champion at the 2003 World Championships in Athletics.
