2010 European Athletics Championships
The 2010 European Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the European Athletics Championships, organised under the supervision of the European Athletic Association. They were held at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain from 27 July to 1 August 2010. Barcelona was the first Spanish city to host the European Championships. Barni was the mascot of the event, he was the main promotional tool of the Championship. His name comes from Barna and was designed by the workshop Dortoka. Erik Cadée
Erik Cadée (born 15 February 1984) is a Dutch discus thrower. Cadée was born in 's-Hertogenbosch. Among his first international appearances was a runner-up performance at the 2001 European Youth Olympic Festival. He competed in the qualifying rounds of the 2002 World Junior Championships in Athletics and improved the following year to claim the gold medal at the 2003 European Athletics Junior Championships. Cadée represented the Netherlands at the World Championships in Athletics in 2007 and 2009, but did not reach the final. He qualified for the final at the 2010 European Athletics Championships, but failed to record a legal throw in his three attempts. Sergiu Ursu (born April 26, 1980) is a Romanian discus thrower. Originally from the Republic of Moldova, he transferred to compete for Romania from 2003 onwards. He represented his adopted country twice at both the World Championships in Athletics and European Athletics Championships. He was banned for two years from February 2004 after a positive test for Nandrolone. In 2013 Urzu tested positive for Norandrosterone in an out of competition test, and was given another two-year sanction. Virgilijus Alekna
Virgilijus Alekna (; 13 February 1972) is a Lithuanian former discus thrower and politician. He won medals at the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympics, including two golds. After retiring from athletics, Alekna was elected to the national parliament, the Seimas, in 2016. He has 3 children - Martynas Alekna, Mykolas Alekna and Gabrielė Aleknaite.
