2009–10 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos Men's Basketball Team
The 2009–10 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men's basketball team represented the University of California, Santa Barbara during the 2009–10 college basketball season. They were led by head coach Bob Williams in his 12th season at UCSB. The Gauchos were members of the Big West Conference and played their home games at the UC Santa Barbara Events Center, also known as ''The Thunderdome''. They finished the season 20–10, 12–4 in Big West play to win a share of the regular season championship. As the No. 1 seed in the Big West tournament, they defeated UC Davis and Long Beach State to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. As a No. 15 seed in the Midwest Region, they lost in the first round to No. 2-seeded and No. 5-ranked Ohio State. Bob Williams (basketball, Born 1953)
Robert Allen Williams (born July 13, 1953) is an American college basketball coach and the former head men's basketball coach at the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men's basketball, UC Santa Barbara. He is sometimes referred to as the Dean of the Big West Conference's basketball coaches. He was previously the head coach at the UC Davis Aggies men's basketball, UC Davis, winning the NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament, NCAA Men's Division II Basketball Championship in 1998. Williams is the all-time winningest coach at UC Santa Barbara with a 19-year record of 313–260. Coaching career Prior to his arrival at UCSB, Williams spent eight years at UC Davis. His UC Davis teams recorded 20 or more wins five times and had an eight-year record of 158–76 record. History Etymology The name Encino is the misspelling in masculine of Encina, the Spanish word for "holm oak” (Quercus ilex). Carlsbad High School (Carlsbad, California)
Carlsbad High School is a public high school in Carlsbad, California. History As an aftermath of World War II and the subsequent baby boom, Carlsbad's population skyrocketed and there became a sudden need for more schools. In 1955, voters in Oceanside and Carlsbad voted and approved a $1.26 million construction bond that funded the building of Carlsbad's first public high school. Carlsbad High School first opened in 1957. It underwent major redevelopment from 2009 to 2012. In 2010, the Academic Performance Index for the school was 812. Before construction of the high school, most students in Carlsbad went to the combined Oceanside Carlsbad High School, which was founded in 1906. James Nunnally
James William Nunnally (born July 14, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for Zhejiang Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He played college basketball for UC Santa Barbara. Early life and education Nunnally was born in San Jose, California, and attended Weston Ranch High School in Stockton, California. As a sophomore, he averaged 10 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. As a junior, he averaged 19 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as he was named Stockton Record Player of the Year, All-State, All-CIF Sac-Joaquin Section and All-Valley Oak League.
