The 2009–10 Texas Longhorns women's basketball team represented University of Texas at Austin in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I basketball season. The Longhorns were coached by Gail Goestenkors. The Longhorns are a member of the Big 12 Conference. Offseason *May 4: The Texas Women's Basketball team joins an elite field selected to participate in The U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam tournament in November at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas, USVI. Exhibition Paradise Jam * Games at the 2009 US Virgin Islands Paradise Jam shall be played at the U.V.I. Sports and Fitness Center, a basketball facility located in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. Gail Goestenkors
Gail Ann Goestenkors (born February 26, 1963) is an American basketball coach who was most recently an assistant coach for the Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball team. She is perhaps best known as the women's college basketball head coach of Duke University and the University of Texas at Austin. She led Duke from 1992 until 2007, when she was hired to replace the retiring Jody Conradt at Texas. Goestenkors left Texas following the 2011–12 season citing fatigue. At Duke, Goestenkors received recognition as the ACC Coach of the Year a record 7 times (1996, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2007). In the 2001–02 season, Goestenkors led the Blue Devils to the first undefeated regular season in ACC women's basketball history — a feat she repeated two more times during her tenure at Duke (2003, 2007). 2009 US Virgin Islands Paradise Jam
The tenth annual 2009 Paradise Jam Tournament, US Virgin Islands Paradise Jam was a women's basketball tournament that took place November 26–28, 2009. Eight teams from the NCAA were invited to participate in the tournament. The teams were separated into two brackets, the Reef Division and the Island Division. The Reef Division consisted of Mississippi State, Rutgers, Southern California and Texas.
