2009–10 Stanford Cardinal Men's Basketball Team
The 2009–10 Stanford Cardinal men's basketball team represented Stanford University during the 2009–10 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cardinal were led by second year head coach Johnny Dawkins, and played their home games at Maples Pavilion as a member of the Pacific-10 Conference. Previous season The Cardinal started the year off strong starting 10–0 in non-conference play but couldn't keep up in conference play ending up under .500. In the Pac-10 tournament they received a #9 seed and would win in the first round against Oregon State In the second round the Cardinal faced #1 seed Washington but lost 85–73. Stanford received a bid to the College Basketball Invitational as a #1 seed in the Midwest and a first round opponent of Boise State. After the win against Boise State, Stanford hit the road and traveled to Wichita, Kansas to face the Shockers and would come out with a 70–56 victory. Johnny Dawkins
Johnny Earl Dawkins Jr. (born September 28, 1963) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the UCF men's basketball team. From 2008 to 2016, he was the head coach of Stanford. He was a two-time All-American and national player of the year as a senior in 1986 while at Duke from 1982 to 1986. Dawkins subsequently played nine seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the San Antonio Spurs (1986–1989), Philadelphia 76ers (1989–1994), and Detroit Pistons (1994–1995). From 1998 to 2008, he served as an assistant basketball coach at his alma mater, Duke. Playing career College Dawkins was born and raised in Washington, D.C. Mitch Johnson (basketball)
Mitchell Johnson (born November 29, 1986) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He replaced Gregg Popovich, who stepped down after 29 seasons. He previously served as the interim head coach and assistant coach of the Spurs, and served as an assistant coach for the Austin Spurs from 2016 to 2019.
