2009–10 Queens Park Rangers F.C. Season
During the 2009–10 season, Queens Park Rangers played in the Football League Championship, their sixth season of their spell at this level. Season review New managerial team Jim Magilton was announced as the replacement for Paulo Sousa as manager on 3 June 2009. John Gorman was named Magilton's assistant on 17 June, reprising his former role with Magilton at Ipswich Town. Friendlies Queens Park Rangers played their first pre-season friendly against Aldershot Town at The Recreation Ground. Rangers won the game 4–0 with goals from Ákos Buzsáky, Heiðar Helguson, Patrick Agyemang and Dexter Blackstock. Former Sunderland striker David Connolly featured in the game for the R's. NK Karlovac 1919 is a Croatian football club based in the town of Karlovac. Karlovac plays their home matches at Stadion Branko Čavlović-Čavlek. David James Connolly (born 6 June 1977) is a former professional footballer who played as a striker. He played for various clubs including Feyenoord and Excelsior in the Netherlands as well as Wigan Athletic and Sunderland in the Premier League. Dexter Anthony Titus Blackstock (born 20 May 1986) is a former professional footballer who played as a striker. He played most notably for Queens Park Rangers and Nottingham Forest. Having represented England at youth international level, Blackstock went on to play for the Antigua and Barbuda national team; he qualified through his grandfather, who was born in Antigua. Patrick Agyemang (born 29 September 1980) is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. Agyemang began his career at Wimbledon, progressing through the club's youth system. He was loaned out to Brentford in October 1999 for three months, before returning to his parent club. Agyemang played regularly for Wimbledon, making 137 appearances and scoring 22 goals over the next four seasons. With Wimbledon struggling financially, he was sold to First Division club Gillingham in January 2004, spending ten months with the club before signing for Preston North End in November 2004 for a fee of £350,000. Heiðar Helguson
Heiðar Helguson (; born 22 August 1977) is an Icelandic former professional footballer who played as a striker. Heiðar started his career in the Icelandic league system, with UMFS Dalvík and Þróttur. Following a one-season spell in Norway with Lillestrøm SK, Heiðar moved to England to play for Watford in 1999, with Lillestrøm receiving a transfer fee of £1.5 million. The English media anglicised his name to Heidar when he joined Watford – it is by this given name that he is commonly known in England.
