2009–10 Ohio Bobcats Women's Basketball Team
The 2009–10 Ohio Bobcats women's basketball team represented Ohio University during the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bobcats, led by second year head coach Semeka Randall, played their home games at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio as a member of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 8–22 and 4–12 in MAC play. Preseason The preseason poll was announced by the league office on October 28, 2009. Ohio was picked fifth in the MAC East. Semeka Randall
Semeka Chantay Randall-Lay (born February 7, 1979) is the current head coach for the Winthrop Eagles women's basketball team. She is also a former collegiate and professional basketball player. She was hired as recruiting coordinator at Wright State in June 2016 after serving as the head coach of the Alabama A&M University women's basketball team for three years. Randall was also head coach of the Ohio Bobcats, from 2008 to 2013. She previously served as an assistant coach of the women's basketball teams at West Virginia University, Michigan State University, and Cleveland State University. Early life She attended Trinity High School in Garfield Heights, Ohio, where she starred in basketball until 1996. Randall was named a WBCA All-American. Convocation Center (Ohio University)
The Convocation Center is a 13,000-seat multi-purpose arena that is home to the Ohio Bobcats basketball, volleyball, and wrestling teams. History The Convocation Center, also known locally as "The Convo," was designed by architecture firm Brubaker/Brandt of Columbus, Ohio and built by Knowlton Construction Company of Bellefontaine, Ohio. The first men's basketball game in the arena featured an 80–70 Ohio victory over the Indiana Hoosiers on December 3, 1968. The 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's basketball season began in November 2009 and ended with the 2010 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament's championship game on April 6, 2010 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The 2010 Mid-American Conference women's basketball tournament was the post-season basketball tournament for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) 2009–10 college basketball season. The 2010 tournament was held March 6–13, 2010. Top seeded Bowling Green won the championship over second seeded Toledo. Lauren Prochaska of Bowling Green was the MVP. Format The top four seeds received byes into the quarterfinals. The winners of each division were awarded the #1 and #2 seeds. The team with the best record of the two receives the #1 seed.
