2009–10 Norwich City F.C. Season
The 2009–10 season was the 108th season in the history of Norwich City. It was the club's first season in Football League One (third tier of the English football pyramid) for 49 years, following relegation from The Championship in 2008–09. However, they gained promotion back to the second tier as league champions with a club record total of 95 points, finishing nine points ahead of runners-up Leeds United. Norwich City F
Norwich () is a cathedral city and district of the county of Norfolk, England, of which it is the county town. It lies by the River Wensum, about north-east of London, north of Ipswich and east of Peterborough. The population of the Norwich City Council local authority area was estimated to be 144,000 in 2021, which was an increase from 143,135 in 2019. The wider Norwich built-up area had a population of 213,166 at the 2011 census. As the seat of the See of Norwich, the city has one of the country's largest medieval cathedrals. Michael Nelson (footballer)
Michael John Nelson (born 23 March 1980) is a former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is currently the manager of Chester-le-Street United. Nelson started his career at semi-professional level, playing for Spennymoor United, Leek Town and Bishop Auckland. His performances earned him a move to Bury in 2001. After winning the Bury Player of the Year award in 2002–03, Nelson moved to third tier Hartlepool United. In his first two seasons with the club, Hartlepool would reach the play-offs in both seasons, before being relegated in 2005–06. However, Hartlepool secured an immediate return to League One as runners-up with Nelson earning a place in the PFA Team of the Year for his performances. Matthew Gill
Matthew James Gill (born 8 November 1980) is an English professional Association football, football coach and former player. He began his career in 1997, notably representing Peterborough United F.C., Peterborough United, Exeter City F.C., Exeter City and Bristol Rovers F.C., Bristol Rovers. Following his retirement in 2014, he moved into coaching, first becoming assistant manager at Tranmere Rovers F.C., Tranmere Rovers before taking a post at the Norwich City F.C., Norwich City academy. He left Norwich in October 2018, joining local rivals Ipswich Town F.C., Ipswich Town as first-team coach to new manager Paul Lambert. Adam Drury (footballer, Born 1978)
Adam James Drury (born 29 August 1978) is an English former professional footballer who is best known for his eleven-year spell at Norwich City. Joining in 2001 from Peterborough United, he later went on to captain the club, and is a member of their Hall of Fame. After leaving, he had a short spell with Leeds United, before retiring from professional football at the end of the 2013–14 season. Career Peterborough Drury started his career at Peterborough United making his debut for the club in 1995. In total he made 150 league appearances for Peterborough United before leaving the club for Norwich. Norwich City Drury joined Norwich City from Peterborough United in March 2001 for £500,000. Neil Adams (footballer)
Neil James Adams (born 23 November 1965) is an English former professional footballer and former manager who is the current technical director of EFL Championship club Norwich City. He played as a midfielder for Stoke City, Everton, Oldham Athletic and Norwich City. Adams began his career playing for his local club Stoke City, where he quickly earned a reputation of being a tricky and productive winger. This prompted Everton to pay a fee of £150,000 for his signature in June 1986. He was part of the Everton's Championship-winning squad in 1987, but injuries prevented him from reaching his potential at Goodison Park and after three years he moved on to Oldham Athletic. At Oldham, Adams played a major role in helping the club gain promotion to the newly formed Premier League in 1992 and also helped the Latics to reach the 1990 League Cup Final. Paul Crichton
Paul Andrew Crichton (born 3 October 1968) is an English football coach and former footballer. He is the goalkeeper coach of National Women's Soccer League club Orlando Pride. Aa a player he was a goalkeeper from 1986 to 2011. During his playing career Crichton notably had lengthy spells with Grimsby Town, Doncaster Rovers, West Bromwich Albion and Burnley having also played as a professional for Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Darlington, Peterborough United, Swindon Town, Rotherham United, Aston Villa and Norwich City. He then moved into the Non-League game where he turned out for York City, Gainsborough Trinity, Stafford Rangers, Leigh RMI and Accrington Stanley. Ian Crook
Ian Stuart Crook (born 18 January 1963) is an English football manager and former professional player. As a player, he was a midfielder who began his career with Tottenham Hotspur. before making 418 appearances for Norwich City where he notably played in the Premier League and UEFA Cup. He finished his career with spells in Japan and Australia with Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Northern Spirit. He won one cap in 1987 as an England B international. After his playing career Crook went into coaching, mostly in Australia, with Newcastle Jets and NSWIS. Ian Culverhouse
Ian Brett Culverhouse (born 22 September 1964) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is currently manager of club St Albans City. Culverhouse began his career with Tottenham Hotspur. He found first team opportunities limited there and made just two league appearances for the club, though he did get a winner's medal in the UEFA Cup as he was an unused substitute for Spurs in the 1984 final against Anderlecht. In October 1985, Norwich City manager Ken Brown paid £50,000 for Culverhouse, who would go on to spend almost a decade at Carrow Road. At the time Culverhouse joined Norwich, they were in the Second Division and were favourites to win promotion back to the First Division. Michael Wynn-Jones
Michael Wynn Jones (born September 1941) is a Welsh writer, editor and publisher. He is an honorary life president of Norwich City with his wife, the former television cook Delia Smith, and was previously the Joint Majority Shareholder of the club alongside Smith from 1998 to 2024. Early life Wynn Jones studied at Lancing College and the University of Oxford. His father was a Church of England vicar in Tivetshall and Redenhall with Harleston, and his mother was a teacher at Diss Grammar School. Wynn-Jones married Delia Smith in 1971 in Stowmarket, Suffolk. Wynn Jones established New Crane Publishing, which produced some of Smith's books as well as the Sainsbury's magazine, which Wynn Jones edited.
