2009–10 Håndboldligaen (men's Handball)
The 2009–10 Danish Handball League season, officially known as Jack & Jones Ligaen for sponsorship reasons was the 74th edition of the Danish Handball League. KIF Kolding were the defending champions. AaB Håndbold won the title, when they beat KIF Kolding in the finals. The final match was decided by a Penalty shootout. This was the first time AaB won the Danish Championship. Bjerringbro-Silkeborg won the regular season. GOG Svendborg TGI were relegated, when they went bankrupt. League table The regular season was a double round robin. The 8 best teams qualified for the championship playoff, while the last place was relegated. The rest qualified for the relegation playoff. As GOG had gone bankrupt, the teams only played 24 matches during the regular season. Regular season Championship Round The championship round was played in two groups of four. Danish Handball League
The Herreligaen (men's league), formerly known as Herrehåndboldligaen (men's handball league), is the men's top Danish professional handball league. The winners of the Herreligaen are recognised as the Danish men's handball champions. The current champions are Aalborg Håndbold. Season The Herreligaen season consists of 14 teams, each playing 26 regular season games. The eight best teams of the regular season advance to further games, where they are divided into two groups of four teams each. No. 1 and 2 from the regular season start with 2 points. No. 3 and 4 start with 1 point, while no. 5-8 start with no points. After these six games the two top teams in each group will play semifinals. No. 1 from one group is up against no. 2 from the other. The winners will meet in finals, while the losers will play against each other for the bronze medal. Sydbank Arena (formerly known as Kolding Hallerne and Tre-For Arena) is an indoor sports arena in Kolding, Denmark primarily used for handball. Gigantium
The Gigantium (called ''Sparekassen Danmark Arena'' for sponsoring reasons), in Aalborg, Denmark, is a large, rentable faire building, which hosts a large variety of concerts, markets and exhibitions, among other things. Lemvig-Thyborøn Håndbold is a handball team from Lemvig, Denmark. It plays in the Danish Handball League. Their head coach is Arne Damgaard.
