2009–10 EHF Women's Champions League
The 2009–10 EHF Women's Champions League was the 17th edition of the EHF Women's Champions League, a team handball, handball competition for top women's clubs of Europe managed by the European Handball Federation. It was won by Danish club Viborg HK who defeated Romanian SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea (handball), CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea at the finals with an aggregate score of 60–52. It was the third title for Viborg and the sixth for a Denmark, Danish team. EHF Women's Champions League
The EHF Women's Champions League is the competition for the top women's team handball, handball clubs in Europe, organised annually by the European Handball Federation (EHF). It is the most prestigious tournament for clubs, with the champions of Europe's top national leagues participating. Tournament structure Each year, the EHF publishes a ranking list of its member federations. The first 27 nations are allowed to participate in the tournament with their national champion. The national federations are allowed to request extra places or upgrades from the EHF European League. The EHF Champions League is divided into five stages. Depending on the ranking of their national federation and of the criteria list, teams can enter the competition in either qualification or the group phase. Zvezda Zvenigorod
Zvezda Zvenigorod (, lit. ''Star Zvenigorod'') is a Russian women's handball club from Zvenigorod, near Moscow. They won the Champions League and the Champions Trophy in 2008, and the EHF Cup in 2006/07. Between 2006 and 2011 the club was coached by Russian national team trainer Evgeny Trefilov. In the summer of 2011 he was replaced by head coach Zdravko Zovko. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the International Handball Federation banned Russian athletes, and the European Handball Federation suspended the Russian clubs from competing in European handball competitions. Ferencvárosi TC (women's Handball)
Ferencvárosi Torna Club is a Hungarian professional women's handball team from Budapest, that is part of the multi-sports club Ferencvárosi TC. Nicknamed ''Fradi'', the team plays in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, the top level championship in Hungary. They are one of the most successful clubs in the country, having won eleven Hungarian championships and as many Hungarian cup titles. FTC also enjoy a good reputation in continental competitions: they lifted the EHF Cup Winners' Cup trophy in 1978, 2011, and 2012, and they were also crowned as the EHF Cup winners in 2006. Aalborg Damehåndbold is a former team handball club for women from Aalborg, Denmark. History Aalborg DH was promoted to the top league in Denmark in 2002–2003. The club finished second in the top league once, and obtained third place in 2005–2006. In the 2005–2006 season the club reached the semi-final in the Women's EHF Champions League. Aalborg DH was on 3 September 2013 declared bankrupt. Sociedad Deportiva Itxako, known as Asfi Itxako for sponsorship reasons, was a Spanish women's handball team from Estella-Lizarra, Navarre. Itxako were four times Spanish league winners and the EHF Women's Champions League runners-up. History Itxako Reyno de Navarra is the professional top level women's team of the S.D. Itxako (, Itxako Sports Society). The S.D. was founded in 1972. The women's handball department started in 1990 with a young age category team. ŽRK Budućnost is a professional women's handball team from Podgorica, Montenegro (previously, the club also appeared under the names ZRK Budućnost MONET, Budućnost Brillant, Budućnost Bemax and Budućnost Titograd). Rukometni Klub Podravka Koprivnica is a Croatian women's handball club from Koprivnica. It is the most successful club in Croatian women's handball since formation of the league in 1992.
