Butterfly Stroke
The butterfly (shortened to fly) is a List of swimming styles, swimming stroke swum on the chest, with both arms moving symmetrically, accompanied by the butterfly kick (also known as the "dolphin kick") along with the movement of the hips and chest. It is the newest swimming (sport), swimming style swum in competition, first swum in the early 1930s and originating out of the breaststroke. Speed and ergonomics The butterfly stroke boasts a higher peak velocity than the front crawl, owing to the synchronous propulsion generated by the simultaneous pull/push of both arms and legs. Stephanie Millward
Stephanie Millward (born 20 September 1981) is a British former Paralympic swimmer. At the age of 17 she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). As a result, she competed in the S9 (classification) Paralympic classification. Since 12 June 2016, she competes in the S8 classification after her category change from the less impaired S9 category down to S8. She was reclassified at the Berlin Open. Personal life Millward was born on 20 September 1981 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She was awarded the Freedom of the Town of Corsham on 2 March 2013. Millward is proud ambassador of Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity. Education Millward attended The Corsham School, Wiltshire. 2009 IPC Swimming European Championships
The 2009 IPC Swimming European Championships was an international Swimming (sport), swimming competition. It was held in Reykjavík, Iceland and ran from 18 to 24 October. Around 650 athletes from 37 different countries attended. Great Britain finished top of the medal tables with 39 golds and 94 medals, both greater than any other country. The 2009 Championships was the first IPC-run event where intellectual disability athletes were allowed to compete since the Cheating at the Paralympic Games, 2000 Summer Paralympic controversy. In the 2000 Sydney Games cheating by the Spanish basketball team resulted in the banning of all events for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
