The 2009 Australian Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 97th edition of the Australian Open, and the first Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam event of the year. It took place at the Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia, from 19 January through 1 February 2009. Vesna Manasieva
Vesna Ratkovna Dolonc (Serbian Cyrillic and ; née Manasieva, Манасиева; born 21 July 1989) is a retired Serbian tennis player. She earned career-highs of 84 in singles and 93 in doubles. Career Dolonc began competing on the ITF Circuit in September 2005, soon after her 16th birthday, and had risen to world No. 152 by 28 January 2008. In February 2006, she won seven successive matches to come through qualifying and reached the semifinals of the $10k event at Portimão, Portugal, and in May 2006, she reached her first $10k final in Kyiv, Ukraine. Julia Schruff (born 16 August 1982) is a retired professional German tennis player. Career Her career high WTA-ranking was attained on 17 April 2006, when she reached No. 52. Karolina Šprem
Karolina Šprem Baghdatis (born 25 October 1984) is a former professional tennis player from Croatia. She won eleven titles (ten singles), all at the ITF level. Her highest ranking is world No. 17, achieved in October 2004. Personal life Karolina was born to Gabro and Božena Šprem in Varaždin, SFRY. Kimiko Date-Krumm
is a Japanese former professional tennis player. She reached the semifinals of the 1994 Australian Open, the 1995 French Open and the 1996 Wimbledon Championships, and won the Japan Open a record four times. She reached a career-high ranking of world No. 4 in 1995, and retired from professional tennis in November 1996.
