2008–09 Morehead State Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 Morehead State Eagles men's basketball team represented Morehead State University in the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by head coach Donnie Tyndall, played their home games at Ellis Johnson Arena in Morehead, Kentucky, as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Eagles won the 2009 OVC tournament, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as a 16th seed in the Midwest region. Morehead State played in the Opening Round game, defeating Alabama 58–43 for the school's first NCAA tournament win since 1984. Their run ended in the following round, losing to top seed Louisville. Donnie Tyndall
Donald Joseph Tyndall (born June 14, 1970) is an American basketball coach currently working as the head coach for Chipola College of the NJCAA. Tyndall played college basketball at Iowa Central Community College and Morehead State and has been a basketball coach since 1994. His teams are known for pressing and playing an unconventional match-up zone, a highly successful variation of the defensive system employed by coach Rick Pitino at Louisville. Tyndall began his coaching career at the junior college level, first as an assistant at Iowa Central Community College from 1994 to 1996. He had his first head coaching position in the 1996–97 season at St. Catharine College, where he had 30 wins. Tyndall moved up to the NCAA level as an assistant coach at LSU, Idaho, and Middle Tennessee from 1997 to 2006. 2008–09 Vanderbilt Commodores Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball team represented Vanderbilt University in the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's college basketball season. The team competed in the East Division of the Southeastern Conference and finished with an overall record of 19–12 (SEC: 8–8). They were led by Kevin Stallings, in his ninth year as head coach, and played their home games at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tennessee. Fant–Ewing Coliseum
Fant–Ewing Coliseum is a 7,085-seat multi-purpose arena in Monroe, Louisiana, United States, on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Demonte Tyrone Harper (born June 21, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for Élan Chalon of the LNB Pro A. He played college basketball at Morehead State University. High school career Harper attended Whites Creek High School in Whites Creek, Tennessee. Harper went to the AAA State Final Four both his junior and senior years. As a senior, he averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds per game. After his senior year season in 2007, Harper was awarded All-District First Team and All-Region First Team.
