2008–09 FA Women's Premier League Cup
The 2008–09 FA Women's Premier League Cup was the 18th staging of the FA Women's Premier League Cup, a knockout competition for England's top 36 women's football clubs. The tournament was won by Arsenal L.F.C., Arsenal, who beat Doncaster Rovers Belles L.F.C., Doncaster Rovers Belles 5–0 in the final; this was Arsenal's tenth title. Preliminary round All played on 31 August 2008. First round All played 14 September, except Tranmere Rovers vs. Doncaster Rovers Belles on 21 September. Second round All played 5 October, except the games at Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Millwall: all played on 12 October. Quarter–finals All played 2 November, except Leicester City vs. Arsenal on 9 November. Semi–finals Both played 7 December. The FA Women's National League Cup is an annual England, English women's association football, football cup competition, founded in 1991 by the Women's Football Association, Women's Football Association (WFA). The 1991–92 WFA Women's National League Cup, first edition of the Cup included clubs from the 1991–92 WFA National League Premier Division and the winners were the second-tier Arsenal L.F.C., Arsenal, who beat Millwall Lionesses L.F.C., Millwall 1–0 with a goal by Naz Ball. The Football Association assumed the running of the competition in 1994–95. Clubs from league levels 1 and 2 competed in the Women's Premier League Cup tournament annually until 2009–10, with Arsenal the most frequent winners, in ten seasons. From 2011 onwards, the top-league teams played in the FA WSL's FA Women's League Cup, League Cup instead. Melanie Copeland (née Reay) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages FA Women's National League club Sunderland. Club career As a teenager, Copeland joined the Cowgate Kestrels, which later went on to become Sunderland. During the 2002–03 season, she scored 17 goals and shared the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division Golden Boot with Oldham Curzon's Kelly Dean. The following season, she won the Golden Boot again. During the 2004–05 season she scored 16 goals in 22 appearances, helping the Lady Black Cats win the Northern Division. Stephanie O'Brien (footballer)
The Puppini Sisters is an English close harmony vocal trio composed of Italian-born singer Marcella Puppini and English singers Kate Mullins and Emma Smith. Although the three are not related, the name was chosen in tribute to the Andrews Sisters. They are known for providing guest vocals on Michael Bublé's cover of "Jingle Bells". Puppini first studied fashion design at Saint Martins School of Art, and later music at Trinity College of Music in London, where she met Mullins and original member Rosanna Schura, who was later replaced by Stephanie O'Brien. After eight years with the group, O'Brien was replaced by Emma Smith. The trio are backed by a three-piece band featuring Martin Kolarides on guitar, Henrik Jensen on double bass and Peter Ibbetson on drums. The group is associated with a burlesque revival. Demi Lee Courtney Stokes (born 12 December 1991) is an English professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Women's Championship club Newcastle United. and the England national team. She previously played for Manchester City in the Women's Super League. Club career Stokes joined Sunderland's youth academy as an 8-year-old and began playing in the first team at 16.
