The 2008–09 Dallas Stars season was the list of Dallas Stars seasons, 42nd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. The Stars attempted to win the Stanley Cup for the second time in franchise history but the Stars would end the season missing the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since 2002 having missed the 2009 playoffs by eight points. Pre-season The Stars finished the pre-season with a 1-5-1 record. Regular season The Stars finished the regular season having scored the fewest shorthanded goals in the NHL, with just two. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. Trevor Daley
Trevor Daley (born October 9, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman, currently serving as a Special Assistant to the President of Hockey Operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). He played sixteen seasons in the NHL for the Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. He won the Stanley Cup twice, both with the Penguins, in 2016 and 2017. The Minnesota North Stars were a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 26 seasons, from 1967 to 1993.
