Manchester Velodrome
Manchester Velodrome is an indoor Olympic-standard cycle-racing track in Manchester, England, which opened in 1994. Part of the National Cycling Centre, the facility has been home to British Cycling since 1994, coinciding with the nation's rise to track cycling dominance at World and Olympic level. The velodrome was also home to UCI ProTour#List of current UCI ProTeams, UCI ProTeam Ineos Grenadiers, formerly known as Team Sky between 2010 and 2019, a period when the team won 6 Tour de France, 2 Vuelta a España and 1 Giro d'Italia with Great Britain riders. Robert Slippens (born 3 May 1975) is a Dutch former professional racing cyclist. Slippens represented the Netherlands at three different Summer Olympics. He made his Olympic debut at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta where he participated in the four kilometer team pursuit alongside Jarich Bakker, Richard Rozendaal and Peter Schep. The team finished in twelfth position. Four years later at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, he took part in the same event, but with different riders. Bakker and Rozendaal were replaced by Jens Mouris, John den Braber, and Wilco Zuijderwijk, while Schep and Slippens stayed. Although the team consisted of five riders, only four were allowed on the track at the same time. Leigh Howard
Leigh Howard (born 18 October 1989) is an Australian professional racing cyclist. He qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in both the Men's Madison and Men's Team Pursuit. Howard was part of the Men's team pursuit together with Kelland O'Brien, Sam Weisford and Alexander Porter. They secured a bronze medal after overlapping New Zealand who had crashed. Howard also competed in the Men's Madison where the team finished fifth with a time of 3:48.448 and therefore did not qualify for the final.
