2008 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The 2008 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 118th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary GAA, Tipperary County Board in 1887. The draw for the 2008 fixtures took place in August 2008. The championship began on 13 September 2008 and ended on 19 October 2008. Loughmore-Castleiney GAA, Loughmore-Castleiney were the 2007 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, defending champions, however, they were defeated by Toomevara GAA, Toomevara in the semi-final. On 19 October 2008, Toomevara won the championship following a 2–14 to 0–17 defeat of Thurles Sarsfields GAA, Thurles Sarsfields in the final. Roscrea GAA
Roscrea GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Roscrea, County Tipperary, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the North Tipperary Board and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History Located in the town of Roscrea, on the Tipperary-Offaly border, Roscrea GAA Club was founded in 1895. The club spent most of its early existence operating in the junior grade in the various North Tipperary competitions. Roscrea had their breakthrough success in 1936 when the club claimed their first North Tipperary SHC title. Roscrea's breakthrough at county level came when the club won three successive Tipperary SHC titles between 1968 and 1970. The club also claimed back-to-back Munster Club SHC titles at this time. Thurles (; ''Durlas Éile'') is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of the same name in the barony of Eliogarty and in the ecclesiastical parish of Thurles. FBD Semple Stadium is the home of hurling and Gaelic football for Tipperary GAA and for the province of Munster. Fethard GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association gaelic football club located in the medieval town of Fethard, County Tipperary in Ireland. The club is affiliated to the South Division of Tipperary GAA. They have been Tipperary Senior Football champions on a record twenty one occasions. History The Tipperary county footballers that were attacked at Croke Park on Bloody Sunday of 1920 wore the Grangemockler colours. At that time the county wore the colours of its county champions, not having an official jersey.
