The 2008 Summit League men's basketball tournament was won by Oral Roberts. It took place March 8–11, 2008 at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Summit League Men's Basketball Tournament
The Summit League men's basketball tournament is the post-season tournament for NCAA Division I conference Summit League. The winner of the tournament receives the Summit League's automatic bid into the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. The tournament was first played in 1984, when the league was known as the Association of Mid-Continent Universities (AMCU). The league was also known as the Mid-Continent Conference from 1989 to 2007, after which it was renamed to The Summit League. Format Currently, the top 8 men's basketball teams in the Summit League receive a berth in the conference tournament (barring NCAA sanctions). The South Dakota State Jackrabbits Men's Basketball team is a basketball team that represents South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. The Jackrabbits are an NCAA Division I member and have played in the Summit League since 2007. The team has a 1535–1040–1 (.592) overall record. Centenary Gentlemen Basketball
The Centenary Gentlemen basketball team represents Centenary College, located in Shreveport, Louisiana, in NCAA Division III men's basketball competition. The "Gentlemen" nickname is exclusive to men's athletes and teams; ''Ladies'' is used for women's teams and athletes. The team is a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division III. Prior to 2011, Centenary was a member of the NCAA Division I, and competed in the Summit League. Recent coaching history The Gentlemen were coached by Rob Flaska from 2005 until 2008. His contract was not renewed after the 2007–08 season. Greg Gary was hired to replace him. UMKC Kangaroos Men's Basketball
The Kansas City Roos men's basketball team represents the University of Missouri–Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. The school plays in the Summit League after completing a seven-season tenure in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in July 2020. The Western Illinois Leathernecks men's basketball team represents Western Illinois University of Macomb, Illinois, in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's college basketball competition. The school's team currently competes in The Summit League. Western Illinois' first men's basketball team was fielded in 1910–1911. The Leathernecks men's basketball program made the transition from Division II to Division I beginning in the 1981–82 season. IPFW Mastodons Men's Basketball
The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball team that represents Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW). They have been a member of the Horizon League since 2020 (departing from the Summit League after thirteen years). Formerly, they represented the now defunct Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). The team has yet to participate in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. North Dakota State Bison Men's Basketball
The North Dakota State Bison men's basketball team is a part of the athletic program at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, U.S. They are members of the NCAA Division I and have been part of The Summit League since May 2007. Home games are played at the Scheels Center which is located on the NDSU campus in Fargo, ND. The team shares a conference rival with the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. The Bison men's head coach is David Richman. Ratings Percentage Index
The rating percentage index, commonly known as the RPI, is a quantity used to rank sports teams based upon a team's wins and losses and its strength of schedule. It is one of the sports rating systems by which NCAA basketball, baseball, softball, hockey, soccer, lacrosse, and volleyball teams are ranked. This system was in use from 1981 through 2018 to aid in the selecting and seeding of teams appearing in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament as well as in the women's tournament from its inception in 1982 through 2020. During the 2018 offseason, the NCAA announced that the RPI would no longer be used in the selection process for the Division I men's basketball tournament.
