2008 World Rally Championship Season
The 2008 World Rally Championship was the 36th season of the FIA World Rally Championship. The season consisted of 15 rallies and began on 24 January, with the 2008 Monte Carlo Rally. Frenchman Sébastien Loeb successfully retained the Drivers' World Championship, his and co-driver Daniel Elena's record-breaking fifth consecutive title, all of them attained driving Citroëns. In addition, Citroën secured their fourth Manufacturers' title, and their first since 2005, from 2006 and 2007 victors, Ford. Rule changes The running order for the first day is governed by championship position, with the championship leader running first on the road. For every other day of a rally, the order is decided by the previous end of day classification (with the leader on classification running first). Dani Sordo
Daniel "Dani" Sordo Castillo (born 2 May 1983) is a Spanish rally driver. He competes in the World Rally Championship for Hyundai Motorsport. He achieved his first WRC victory at the 2013 Rallye Deutschland. Career Sordo began in motocross when he was 12 years old, but also experienced success in hillclimbing, karting and touring cars. He first drove in a World Rally Championship event at the Rally Catalunya, the Spanish round of the series, in 2003 in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII, finishing 18th overall. He won the Spanish Junior Championship that year, and retained the title in 2004, while also accumulating further international experience at the WRC events in Argentina (retired), Germany (19th), France (13th) and Spain (20th). Kuldar Sikk
Kuldar Sikk (born 20 June 1979) is an Estonian rally co-driver. From 2022 he is the co-driver of Benediktas Vanagas from Lithuania. Sikk holds the record for the best overall result in a car class in the Baltics as well as for an Estonian co-driver. Dakar results Rally career Kuldar Sikk began his co-driver in 1998, co-driving for several drivers. In the 2003 Monte Carlo Rally, he made his WRC debut in a Suzuki Ignis S1600. Urmo Aava
Urmo Aava (born 2 February 1979) is a former Estonian rally driver who competed in the World Rally Championship between 2002 and 2009. His regular co-driver was Kuldar Sikk, who later became Ott Tänak's co-driver. Career Urmo Aava spent five years from 2003 in the Junior World Rally Championship driving for the successful Suzuki Junior World Rally Team. In this time his results improved, culminating in two runner-up positions in the final standings of the JWRC in 2006 and 2007. 2007 also saw sporadic outings in a privately run Mitsubishi Lancer WRC. In two of these events (Finland and New Zealand) he scored points. Henning Solberg (born 8 January 1973) is a Norway, Norwegian Rallying, rally and rallycross driver. Together with his female co-driver Ilka Minor, he currently competes in the World Rally Championship (WRC) with cars of M-Sport.
