European Athletic Association
The European Athletic Association (EAA, more commonly known as European Athletics) is the governing body for athletics in Europe. It is one of the six Area Associations of the world's athletics governing body World Athletics. European Athletics has 51 members and is headquartered in Lausanne. Originally created in 1932 as a European Committee, it was made into an independent body during the Bucharest conference of 1969. Daniele Meucci
Daniele Meucci (born 7 October 1985) is an Italian athlete who specialises in long-distance running, including track running, cross country and road running who won twenty medals at international level (seventeen at senior level and three at youth level). He represented Italy at the 2012 Summer Olympics, running in the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres. Meucci is a three-time medallist in the latter event at the European Athletics Championships, having won bronze in 2010 and 2016 and silver in 2012. He was also a bronze medallist at the European Cross Country Championships in 2012. He has competed at five World Championships in Athletics (2009 and 2011 in the 5000 m, 2011, 2013 and 2017 in the 10000 m and 2015 in the marathon). Hatti Dean
Harriet Archer (née Dean; born 2 February 1982) is a British former long-distance runner who competed in cross country and steeplechase. Athletics career Dean set three British national records in the 3000 metres steeplechase in 2007, most notably at a rain soaked event at Don Valley Stadium in July of that year. She competed at five World Cross Country Championships between 2005 and 2011, with her best result being 15th in Mombasa in 2007. She finished in the top ten at the European Cross Country Championships in 2008 (8th) and 2010 (7th), an event at which she has also won four team medals. Archer earned selection in the 3000 metres steeplechase for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, but was unable to compete due to a stress fracture to her ankle. Anália Rosa
Anália de Oliveira Rosa (born 28 February 1976) is a Portuguese long-distance runner who competes in cross country, track and road running events, including the marathon. She has represented Portugal at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships a total of nine times. Biography Rosa was born in Troviscal, Oliveira do Bairro. She began her career as a cross country specialist. She won the 2000 World Student Cross Country Championships and established herself on the senior national scene as well, taking three straight short course titles from 2000 to 2003. She made her major international debut at the 2000 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Vilamoura, running in the short race. She switched to the long race at the next edition and reached the top-fifteen runners. Adriënne Herzog
Adriënne Herzog (born 30 September 1985, Amersfoort) is a Dutch middle- and long-distance runner. She has had most of her success in cross country running, being twice a bronze medallist at the European Cross Country Championships (2009 and 2012). She represented the Netherlands on the track at the 2006 European Athletics Championships and 2009 World Championships in Athletics, but failed to make the final on either occasion. She was a finalist, however, at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships. She is a seven-time Dutch national champion in cross country. She also won a bronze medal at the 2003 European Athletics Junior Championships. On the circuit, she won the 2009 Lotto Cross Cup Brussels. Inês Alexandra das Neves Monteiro (born 18 May 1980) is a Portuguese athlete who competes in middle and long-distance track running, as well as road running and cross country. She started out as a cross country runner, winning a silver and a gold medal at the 1998 and 1999 European junior race. She has represented Portugal at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics, and has competed twice at the World Championships in Athletics. Lee Merrien (born 26 April 1979) is a British middle distance and long-distance runner. He was named to the British team for the 2012 Summer Olympics following a Facebook campaign after he was initially not selected to the team. He has won multiple events at the Island Games for his home of Guernsey. Career Merrien competed at his first Island Games in Gotland in 1999, however he did finish in a medal position that year. Representing his home of Guernsey, he went on to win nine gold medals over the next several years at the Island Games in the half marathon, 1,500 m, 5,000 m and 4 × 400 m relay, and also won two silver medals and one bronze. At the 2009 Island Games on the Isle of Wight he set Island Games records in both the 1,500 m and the 5,000 m events.
