The 2007–08 UTEP Miners men's basketball team represented the University of Texas at El Paso in the 2007–08 college basketball season. The team was led by second-year head coach Tony Barbee. In 2006–07, the Miners finished 14–17 (6–10 in C-USA). UTEP averaged 8,145 fans per game, ranking 67th nationally. Tony Barbee
Anthony Michael Barbee (born August 10, 1971) is an American college basketball coach, who was most recently the head coach at the Central Michigan Chippewas men's basketball, Central Michigan. He was previously head coach at Auburn Tigers men's basketball, Auburn and UTEP Miners men's basketball, UTEP. Barbee led UTEP to a Conference USA championship in 2010 and was named Conference USA Coach of the Year. Barbee played college basketball for UMass Minutemen basketball, Massachusetts under John Calipari, winning two Atlantic 10 Conference, Atlantic 10 regular season and Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament, tournament championships in 1992 and 1993. Early years Barbee was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and grew up as a fan of the nearby Butler Bulldogs, Butler University Bulldogs. Tony Madlock
Tony Madlock (born February 17, 1970) is an American basketball coach (basketball), coach who is the current head coach of the Alabama State Hornets basketball, Alabama State Hornets men's basketball team. He previously served in the same position for South Carolina State Bulldogs basketball, South Carolina State. Madlock was named as a finalist for the Joe B. Hall Award, given to college basketball’s top first-year coach after leading South Carolina State to its highest win total since 2015–16. Playing career A Memphis native who starred at Melrose High School (Memphis, Tennessee), Melrose High School, Madlock played collegiately for Memphis Tigers men's basketball, Memphis under Larry Finch from 1988 to 1992, and was part of the Tigers' 1992 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, 1992 Elite Eight squad during his senior year. Milt Wagner
Milton E. Wagner Jr. (born February 20, 1963) is an American former basketball coach and former professional basketball player. After playing college basketball at Louisville, Wagner played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He served as assistant coach for the UTEP Miners and the Auburn Tigers. He most recently served as the Director of Player Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Louisville. Career Wagner played high school basketball at Camden High School. A 6' 5" point guard/shooting guard he led the Louisville Cardinals to the 1986 NCAA Championship along with three Final Four berths (1982, 1983, 1986) as well as to the 1984 Sweet Sixteen. He helped the Cardinals to a 113–32 record, three Metro Conference regular season titles and two Metro Conference Tournament crowns during his college career. Don Haskins Center
The Don Haskins Center, formerly known as the Special Events Center, is the home of UTEP Miners men's and women's basketball. The venue is located in the heart of El Paso, Texas. In addition to hosting sporting events, the Don Haskins Center is also used by many area schools, such as El Paso Community College, for graduation and commencement ceremonies. Due to its large seating capacity, the center is also the city's premier entertainment venue and has hosted big-name acts such as pop star Shakira's Tour of the Mongoose, Oral Fixation Tour and The Sun Comes Out World Tour, Britney Spears during her Circus Tour, comedian George Lopez and rock band KISS.
