2007–08 Siena Saints Men's Basketball Team
The 2007–08 Siena Saints men's basketball team represented Siena College in the 2007–08 college basketball season. This was head coach Fran McCaffery's third season at Siena. The Saints competed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and played their home games at Times Union Center. They finished the season 23–11, 13–5 in MAAC play to capture the regular season championship. They also won the 2008 MAAC men's basketball tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 13 seed in the Midwest Region. After an opening round upset of No. 4 seed Vanderbilt, the Saints lost to No. 12 seed Villanova in the second round. Fran McCaffery
Francis John McCaffery (born May 23, 1959) is an American college basketball coach who is the current men's basketball head coach at the University of Pennsylvania. He previously served as head coach of Lehigh University, UNC Greensboro, Siena, and Iowa, taking all four programs to the NCAA tournament at least once. McCaffery played college basketball for one season at Wake Forest before transferring to Penn. In his playing days, he acquired the nickname of "White Magic;" he was also referred to as the “Conductor” on the court. He began his college coaching career with a stint at Penn as an assistant coach. McCaffery became an assistant coach at Lehigh in 1983. He was the youngest head coach in Division I when he was promoted to head coach in 1985. Following his career at Lehigh, McCaffery spent 11 years as an assistant at Notre Dame. Germantown Academy, informally known as GA and originally known as the Union School, is the oldest nonsectarian day school in the United States. The school was founded on December 6, 1759, by a group of prominent Germantown citizens in the Green Tree Tavern on the Germantown Road. East Greenbush, New York
East Greenbush is a town in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. It is a suburb of Albany. The population was 16,748 at the 2020 census. The word Greenbush is derived from the Dutch ''het groen bosch,'' referring to the pine woods that originally covered the land. Fairport High School
Fairport High School (FHS) is a Public school (government funded), public high school serving the tenth through twelfth grades in the Village of Fairport, New York, Fairport and most of the Town of Perinton, New York. Basketball is a sport with five players on the court for each team at a time. Each player is assigned to different Position (team sports), positions defined by the strategic role they play. Guard, forward and center are the three main position categories. The standard team features two guards, two forwards, and a center.
