2007–08 Scottish Cup
The 2007–08 Scottish Cup was the 123rd season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The winners were Rangers, who defeated Queen of the South in the final. The 2007–08 tournament saw a change in structure with the abolition of the Scottish Qualifying Cup and the admission of 4 members of the Scottish Junior Football Association to the first round. Calendar First round Edinburgh University were given a random bye to the 2nd round. This was because only three Scottish Junior Football Association clubs entered, due to Linlithgow Rose winning both the East League and the Scottish Junior Cup and there being no mechanism allowing for runners-up to enter (the other Juniors to enter were Culter from the North Region and Pollok from the West Region, all progressing to at least the 3rd round). Pollok F
Pollok (, ) is a large housing estate on the south-western side of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The estate was built either side of World War II to house families from the overcrowded inner city. Housing 30,000 at its peak, its population has since declined due to the replacement of substandard housing with lower-density accommodation. As of 2021, the population was recorded at 81,951 people. The main features of the area are the nearby Pollok Country Park, where the Burrell Collection is now housed, the ruins of Crookston Castle (within the north part of residential Pollok) which Mary, Queen of Scots once visited, and the Silverburn Centre, one of Glasgow's major indoor retail complexes. Brora ( ; ) is a village in the east of Sutherland, in the Highland (council area), Highland area of Scotland. Origin of the name The name ''Brora'' is derived from Old Norse and means "river with a bridge". History Brora is a small industrial village, having at one time a coal pit, boat building, salt pans, fish curing, lemonade factory, the new Clynelish Distillery (as well as the old Clynelish distillery which is now called the Brora distillery ), wool mill, bricks and a stone quarry. The white sandstone in the Clynelish quarry belongs to the Brora Formation, of the Callovian and Oxfordian stages (formerly Middle Oolite) of the Mid-Late Jurassic. Stone from the quarry was used in the construction of London Bridge (Lake Havasu City), London Bridge, Liverpool Cathedral and Dunrobin Castle.
