2007–08 Oregon Ducks Men's Basketball Team
The 2007–08 Oregon Ducks men's basketball team represented the University of Oregon in the college basketball season of 2007–08. The team was coached by Ernie Kent and played their home games at McArthur Court. Previous season The 2006–07 Oregon Ducks experienced what many would argue as one of their most memorable and successful seasons in school history. Freshman Tajuan Porter, who was not heavily recruited, along with senior and leader Aaron Brooks helped lead the Ducks to a successful season. They began their season by completing their non-conference schedule at a perfect 12–0, including a come-from-behind win at Rice and an important east-coast win at then ranked #19 Georgetown. The Ducks suffered their first loss of the season against USC but were able to bounce back and defeat then ranked #1 UCLA marking the second time in school history the Ducks had defeated a #1 Bruins team. 2007 NBA Draft
The 2007 NBA draft was held on June 28, 2007, at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It was broadcast on television in 115 countries. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players. Freshman Greg Oden from Ohio State University was drafted first overall by the Portland Trail Blazers, who won the draft lottery. The Earle A. & Virginia H. Chiles Center is a 4,852-seat multi-purpose arena in Portland, Oregon, USA. The arena opened in 1984. It is home to the University of Portland Pilots men's and women's basketball teams as well as the women's volleyball team. 2007–08 Western Michigan Broncos Men's Basketball Team
The 2007–08 Western Michigan Broncos men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The Broncos, 20–12 overall and 12–4 in the conference, captured the MAC West Division championship by four games and earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. WMU reached the semi-finals of the MAC tournament before falling to No. 3 seed Akron. During the regular season, Western Michigan defeated No. 25 ranked Davidson College, a team that reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament. WMU finished the non-conference portion of their schedule 7–7, defeating Davidson, Detroit Mercy, Loyola Chicago, North Carolina Central, Pepperdine, Southern Illinois and Wisconsin–Green Bay. Oregon Sports Properties is a division of Learfield which handles the sports broadcasting, accommodation, and billboard rights for the teams of the University of Oregon's athletic programs and its venues. Until 2012, it was known as the Oregon Sports Network (abbreviated to OSN) and also handled the school's television rights. It launched in 1987 to handle the team's radio rights, with KUGN in Eugene the school's longtime flagship radio station since 1959, outside the period between 1987 and 1995 where KPNW served as the flagship with OSN producing broadcasts. Michael René Dunigan (born July 2, 1989) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Oregon Ducks. Maarten Arthur "Maarty" Leunen (born September 3, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player. A power forward formerly at the University of Oregon, he averaged 9.9 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game in his college career. High school Prior to arriving at the University of Oregon, Leunen starred at Redmond High School in Redmond, Oregon. Leunen led Redmond to the state championship in 2003, where they beat Hillsboro High School 50–47 at Portland's Memorial Coliseum.
