2007–08 Missouri Tigers Men's Basketball Team
The 2007–08 Missouri Tigers men's basketball team represented the University of Missouri in the 2007-08 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The head coach was Mike Anderson, who was in his 2nd year. The team played its home games in the Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri. Pre-season With Missouri returning four starters and eleven scholarship players from a team that surprised many by winning 18 games in head coach Mike Anderson's first year with the team, expectations were running high for the Tigers in 2007. Among the returners was the 2007 Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year Stefhon Hannah. In addition, the Tigers welcomed newcomer DeMarre Carroll as a transfer from Vanderbilt. Carroll was named the Big 12's Preseason Newcomer of the Year. With all of this in mind, the Big 12 coaches selected Missouri fifth in the Big 12 preseason poll. Mike Anderson (basketball, Born 1959)
Michael Andre Anderson (born December 12, 1959) is an American basketball coach, most recently the head coach of the St. John's Red Storm. He came to St. John's after previously serving as head coach at UAB, Missouri and Arkansas. He also served as an assistant/associate head coach under Nolan Richardson at Arkansas for 17 years. Over his 20 seasons as a head coach, Anderson has compiled a 414–235 record, 11 20-win campaigns, 9 NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16 berths and a run to the 2009 Elite Eight. Anderson is one of just 3 current Division I head coaches with 15+ years of experience and no losing seasons, along with Mark Few and Tom Izzo. The 2007–08 Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team represented Purdue University. The head coach was Matt Painter, then in his 3rd season with the Boilers. The Boilers did well at home, going 9-0 in the Big Ten and losing only a single home game overall (16-1). Purdue finished second in the Big Ten with a 15–3 record. The 2007–08 California Golden Bears men's basketball team represented the University of California, Berkeley in the 2007–08 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Ben Braun's 12th season at California. The Golden Bears played their home games at Haas Pavilion and participated in the Pacific-10 Conference. The Golden Bears finished the season 17–16 and went 11–7 in Pac-10 play to finish in ninth place. They lost to UCLA in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 tournament. The Western Illinois Leathernecks men's basketball team represents Western Illinois University of Macomb, Illinois, in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's college basketball competition.
