The 2007β08 Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team represented the University of Maryland, College Park, University of Maryland in the 2007β08 college basketball season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Gary Williams
Gary Bruce Williams (born March 4, 1945) is an American university administrator and former college basketball coach. He served as the head coach at the University of Maryland, the Ohio State University, Boston College, and American University. In 2002, he led Maryland to win the NCAA tournament championship. Williams retired after the 2010–11 season. On March 25, 2014, Williams was elected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. In April of the same year, he was also voted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, making him the first coach in history to be inducted into both institutions in the same year. Playing career Williams played for Maryland as the starting point guard under coach Bud Millikan. The 2007β08 UCLA Bruins men's basketball team represented the University of California, Los Angeles in the Pacific-10 Conference for the 2007β08 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. In his fifth year as head coach, Ben Howland led the team to its third straight Final Four appearance. The Bruins also set a new record number of wins for the regular season, eclipsing the 26 wins of 2006β07. BB&T Classic Basketball Tournament
The BB&T Classic, originally the Franklin National Bank Classic, was a Washington, D.C.βbased college basketball event held annually from 1995 to 2017. It raised funds for the Children's Charities Foundation, a fund-raising organization that financially supports Washington, D.C.βarea charities, and was staged on or around the first weekend in December. Its name changed in 1999 after BB&T acquired Franklin National Bank that year. Played as a tournament with championship and consolation games from 1995 to 2004, the BB&T Classic was a non-tournament showcase event from 2005 to 2017. CBE Hall Of Fame Classic
The Hall of Fame Classic (formerly known as the Guardians Classic, CBE Classic, CBE Hall of Fame Classic and Hall of Fame Classic) created by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) is an annual season-opening college basketball tournament founded in 2001. The tournament is currently held in mid-November at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Before the 2007 tournament, the final rounds were held at Municipal Auditorium, except for one year at Kemper Arena in 2001. Tournament Format From the inaugural tournament in 2001 until 2019, twelve teams participated in the tournament.
