The FINA Water Polo World League, 2007 FINA Women's Water Polo World League was the fourth edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body in aquatics, the FINA. Three qualification tournaments were held, before the final round took off in the Parc Jean Drapeau Aquatic Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, from July 4 to July 8, 2007. FINA Water Polo World League
The FINA Water Polo World League was an international water polo league organized by FINA (now World Aquatics), which played annually, typically from winter through to June. League play featured continental tournaments for men and women, from which the top teams emerged to play in the championship tournament (the ''Super Final'') where the league champion team is crowned. Men's league play began in 2002, to capitalize on increased worldwide popularity of water polo created by the 2000 Olympic Games, especially in Europe, North America, and Australia. The women’s league was added in 2004, based on growing interest in women's play. In October 2022, FINA announced that the tournament would be replaced with the FINA Water Polo World Cup and FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup from 2023 on. Iefke Van Belkum
Iefke van Belkum (born 22 July 1986) is a water polo player of the Netherlands who represents the Dutch national team in international competitions. Van Belkum was part of the team that became 10th at the 2005 World Aquatics Championships in Montreal. At the 2006 FINA Women's Water Polo World League in Cosenza and the 2006 Women's European Water Polo Championship in Belgrade they finished in fifth place, followed by the 9th spot at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne. The Dutch team finished in fifth place at the 2008 Women's European Water Polo Championship in Málaga and they qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. There they ended up winning the gold medal on 21 August, beating the United States 9-8 in the final. Suzannah "Suzie" Fraser (born 27 August 1983) is former Australian water polo player, who joined the women's national team in 2005. She was a member of the side that won the silver medal at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne, Australia, after having claimed the title at the 2006 FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup the previous year. Jennifer Pareja Lisalde (born 8 May 1984) is a former Spanish water polo player who won the gold medal at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona, being named ''Most Valuable Player'' of the event. She was named 2013 Best Female Water Polo Player of the Year by FINA. Pareja competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics with the Spain national team in the women's event, winning the silver medal. She scored 12 goals and was named to the Olympic All-Star Team. She was the joint top sprinter at the 2012 Olympics, with 21 sprints won. In 2014 she also won gold at European Championship in Budapest.
