2007 Big West Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2007 Big West Conference men's basketball tournament was held March 7–10 at Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Long Beach State defeated in the championship game, 94–83, to obtain the fourth Big West Conference men's basketball tournament championship in school history. The 49ers earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA tournament as the #12 seed in the San Antonio region. Format All eight teams in the conference participated. Teams were seeded based on regular season conference records. The top four seeds received byes, with the top two seeds receiving a second bye into the semifinal round. Honda Center (formerly known as the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim) is an indoor arena located in Anaheim, California. The arena is home to the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League. 2006–07 Long Beach State 49ers Men's Basketball Team
The 2006–07 Long Beach State 49ers men's basketball team represented California State University, Long Beach during the 2006–07 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 49ers, led by fifth year head coach Larry Reynolds, played their home games at Walter Pyramid and were members of the Big West Conference. They finished the season 24–8, 12–2 in Big West play to be crowned regular season champions. They were also champions of the Big West Basketball tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid into the 2007 NCAA tournament where they lost in the opening round to Tennessee. Larry Reynolds
Larry Reynolds is an American college basketball coach, currently co-head coach at NCAA Division II Stanislaus State. Reynolds has previously been head coach at Cal State San Bernardino and Division I Long Beach State. Reynolds played college basketball from UC Riverside, where he was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Year in 1975. He began his coaching career at his alma mater, serving as an assistant coach to John Masi from 1979 to 1995. He moved up to the Division I University of San Francisco as an assistant, then secured his first head coaching job at Cal State San Bernardino in 1997. Reynolds led the Coyotes to a five-year record of 110–35 (.759), including four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and four consecutive CCAA Coach of the Year awards. The Anaheim Convention Center is a major convention center in Anaheim, California, and is the largest exhibition facility on the West Coast of the United States.
