2006–07 St. Louis Blues Season
The 2006–07 St. Louis Blues season, its 40th in the league, saw the team attempting to improve on the 2005–06 season, in which it had finished with the worst record in the National Hockey League (21–46–15, 57 points). One major offseason transaction saw the Blues sign Doug Weight back to the roster via free agency, after he had left the team at the trade deadline of the 2005–06 season and won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes. One notable event of the season was the jersey retirement of Brett Hull's number 16 on December 5, 2006. In the ceremony, the Blues announced that a section of nearby Clark Avenue would be renamed Brett Hull Way. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981–82 NHL season, 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. 2005–06 NHL Season
The 2005–06 NHL season was the 89th season of operation (88th season of play) of the National Hockey League (NHL). This season succeeded the 2004–05 season which had all of its scheduled games canceled due to a labor dispute with the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) over the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the League and its players. The season featured the first time that all 30 of its member teams played games on the same day, which happened the first day of the season, October 5, 2005. A mid-season break in February occurred to allow participation of NHL players in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. 2006–07 Anaheim Ducks Season
The 2006–07 Anaheim Ducks season was the 14th season of operation (13th season of play) for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. It was the team's 1st season as the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks clinched their first Pacific Division title in team history with 110 points, and defeated the Ottawa Senators in the Stanley Cup Finals four games to one.
