2006–07 San Jose Sharks Season
The San Jose Sharks 2006–07 season was the 16th season played by the franchise. Offseason During the 2006 offseason, the San Jose Sharks made significant changes in order to bolster their defense and team grit. The Sharks signed Mike Grier from the Buffalo Sabres and former Shark Curtis Brown from the Chicago Blackhawks, two forwards noted for their defense prowess on both sides of the ice. After signing the two veterans, General Manager Doug Wilson traded their top offensive defenceman in 2005–06, Tom Preissing, to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for centre Mark Bell of the Chicago Blackhawks in a three-way trade involving Martin Havlat going from Ottawa to the Blackhawks. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference (french: Conférence de l'Ouest) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks (spelled Black Hawks until 1986, and known colloquially as the Hawks) are a professional ice hockey team based in Chicago. Jim Fahey
James M. Fahey (born May 11, 1979) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the San Jose Sharks and the New Jersey Devils. He last played for the Krefeld Pinguine of the DEL. Playing career Fahey was drafted in the 8th round, 212th overall, by the San Jose Sharks in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. Before becoming a professional hockey player, Jim was a member of the Dorchester, MA (Greater Boston Youth Hockey League), Tier 2 National Championship Midget Team in 1996, and subsequently a standout at Catholic Memorial High School. Vladimir Igorevich Malakhov (russian: Владимир Игоревич Малахов; born August 30, 1968) is a Russian former professional ice hockey player of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Worcester Sharks were a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) that played from 2006 to 2015. Affiliated with the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks and located in Worcester, Massachusetts, the Sharks played their home games at the DCU Center. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. Scott Ferguson
Scott Ferguson (born January 6, 1973) is a Canadian former Métis professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Edmonton Oilers, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Minnesota Wild. He was an assistant coach, along with fellow ex-Oiler Geoff Smith, with the Kamloops Blazers. He coached there for three seasons before being let go despite having a 6-2-0 record as the interim head coach at the end of his time with the organization. Graham Mink
Graham Christian Mink (born May 21, 1979) is an American former professional ice hockey winger. Playing career Undrafted, Mink originally played high school hockey with Stowe High School, winning the Division III state championship in his sophomore year and Division II state championship in his senior year. After high school, he attended Northfield Mount Hermon school for a post graduate year. He then was a recruited walk on to play collegiate hockey with the University of Vermont in the ECAC. After an unimpressive freshman year, Mink gradually improved within the Catamounts and in his junior year placed second on the team in scoring with 17 goals and 29 points in 32 games. Patrick Rheaume Joseph Traverse (born March 14, 1974) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played 279 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with five teams. Playing career As a youth, Traverse played in the 1988 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Mathieu Biron (born April 29, 1980) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played over 250 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). After retiring as a hockey player, he became a firefighter. Nils Karl "Nisse" Ekman (born 11 March 1976) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey right winger. During his 15-year career as a player at the professional level he played in the National Hockey League, Swedish Elite League (SHL), Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), and SM-liiga.
