The 2006 World Men's Curling Championship was held April 1–9, 2006 at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell in Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. Scotland, skipped by David Murdoch, won the tournament defeating Canada in the final. Hugh Millikin
Hugh Ronald Alexander Millikin (born 4 July 1957 in North Vancouver, British Columbia) is an Australian curler originally from Ottawa, Ontario. Career In 1986, while still residing in the Canadian province of Ontario, Millikin played second position for Dave Van Dine's Canadian Mixed Curling Championship team. Millikin would later move to Australia and has skipped the Australian team to nine Pacific Curling Championships titles. Millikin has also participated in 11 World Curling Championships. The team's top placements have been sixth place in 1992, 1993 and 2008. Millikin also went to the 1992 Winter Olympics, skipping the Australian team to a seventh-place finish in the demonstration event. Millikin and his team used travel back to his hometown Ottawa to practice and to participate in local curling tournaments. Their team coach was Earle Morris, father of John Morris. Hvidovre Curling Club
Hvidovre is the main town in Hvidovre Municipality, Denmark. The town, a suburb of Copenhagen, is about 10 km southwest of the capital's center. It is the 2nd biggest suburb of Copenhagen, only beaten by Frederiksberg. History Hvidovre has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In 1929, a 3,500-year-old sword from the Bronze Age was excavated in Hvidovre. A farm, Ovre (Aworthe), was located in the area in about 1170 when Esbern Snare gave it to Sorø Abbey that later passed it on to Bishop Absalon. A church was built during the Romanesque period. The name Hvidovre, meaning White Ovre, refers to the colour of the church, which was built in white chalk, as opposed to the one in Rødovre, Red Ovre, which was built in red brick. Éric Sylvain (born June 16, 1971) is a Canadian Curling, curler from Lévis, Quebec. He was the long time second (curling), second for Jean-Michel Ménard from 2003 to 2018. Sylvain joined up with Ménard in 2003, and qualified for his first the Brier, Brier in 2005 as a member of Team Quebec. They lost in the 3-4 game to Nova Scotia (Shawn Adams, skip). In 2006, they qualified for the Brier, this time winning the title when they defeated Ontario (Glenn Howard) in the final. The team became the first francophone team from Quebec to win the Brier. Ian "Ice Nut" Palangio (21 November 1972 – 2020) was a Canadian–Australian curler. He represented Australia at four World Curling Championships and was a two-time Pacific Curling Champion. Palangio began curling in 1986. While living in Canada, he won provincial university championship with the University of Waterloo in 1996 and the OVCA Mixed Bonspiel in 1998.
