2006 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The 2006 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (''2006 WJHC'') were held in Vancouver, Kelowna and Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. The championships began on December 26, 2005, and finished on January 5, 2006. Games were played at GM Place and Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops and Prospera Place in Kelowna. Canada men's national junior ice hockey team, Canada was the winner defeating Russia 5–0 in the gold medal game. Philip Joseph Kessel Jr. (born October 2, 1987) is an American professional ice hockey winger (ice hockey), winger who is an unrestricted free agent. Christopher Ray Bourque (born January 29, 1986) is an American former professional ice hockey forward. Originally drafted by the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), he has played 51 NHL games for the Capitals, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Boston Bruins. Bourque currently serves as a free agent scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Erik Johnson
Erik Robert Johnson (born March 21, 1988) is an American ice hockey defenseman for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). Nicknamed the "Condor", Johnson previously played for the St. Louis Blues, who selected him with the first overall pick in the 2006 NHL entry draft, as well as the Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers. Mathis Olimb (born February 1, 1986) is a Norwegian professional ice hockey forward, currently playing for Vålerenga of the Fjordkraftligaen (Norway). He is the older brother of fellow Norwegian Ken André Olimb. Playing career Olimb started his professional career in 2002 in the Norwegian GET-league, playing for Vålerenga, where he grew up. Kyle Douglas Glen Chipchura (born February 19, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. He was selected in the first round, 18th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Chipchura also played for the Anaheim Ducks and Arizona Coyotes. David D. Bolland (born June 5, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Bolland was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. While playing junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Bolland helped the London Knights capture the 2005 Memorial Cup.
