2006 Salford Council Election
The 2006 Salford City Council election took place on 4 May 2006 to elect members of Salford City Council in England. One third of the council was up for election and the Labour Party (UK), Labour party kept overall control of the council. Overall turnout was 28.1%. Salford City Council
Salford City Council is the Local government in England, local authority for the City of Salford, a metropolitan borough with City status in the United Kingdom, city status in Greater Manchester, England. It is a metropolitan borough council and provides the majority of local government services in the city. The council has been a member of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority since 2011. The council has been under Labour Party (UK), Labour majority control since the metropolitan borough was created in 1974. Since 2012 the council has been led by the directly elected Mayor of Salford, which post has been held by Paul Dennett of the Labour Party since 2016. Worsley and Westwood Park (ward) is an electoral ward of Salford, England. It is represented in Westminster by Barbara Keeley MP for Worsley and Eccles South.
