2006 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2006 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament was held in March. The tournament featured the league's top eight seeds. Monmouth won the championship, its first, and received the conferences automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Format For the second straight year, the NEC Men’s Basketball Tournament will consist of an eight-team playoff format with all games played at the home of the higher seed. Rothman Center
Rothman Center is a multi-purpose arena in Hackensack, New Jersey. Home to the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights men's and women's basketball, volleyball, track and field teams, as well as many other sports, it was completed in 1987 and seats 1,852. The center hosted the Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament final in the 2004–05 and 2005-06 seasons. The center also hosts various trade shows and special events ranging from doll shows and toy soldier shows to visits by Vice President George H. W. Bush in 1988 & former President Bill Clinton as well as former Vice President Al Gore. On October 21, 2009 the Rothman Center was visited by President Barack Obama. President Obama visited the Rothman Center to rally for former Governor of New Jersey Jon S. Corzine. Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Northeast Conference (NEC). It has been held every year since the NEC was established in the 1981–82 season. The tournament is an eight-team single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The bracket is reseeded after the quarterfinals, with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals. The tournament winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA basketball tournament. Robert Morris, which left the NEC in 2020 for the Horizon League, is the program that has won the most NEC Tournament Championships (9), followed by current NEC members LIU (6) and Fairleigh Dickinson (6) as well as Mount St. Mary's (also 6), which left the NEC in 2022 for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Chad Timberlake
Chad Timberlake (born January 1, 1984) is an American basketball coach and player. Currently, he is an assistant coach with Union Neuchâtel of the Swiss Basketball League. He played college basketball for the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights, where in 2006 he was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Year. College career Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, Timberlake came to Fairleigh Dickinson from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn. In his first season he came off the bench to average 6.2 points and 2.7 assists per game, earning Northeast Conference All-Rookie team honors. He moved into the starting lineup for his remaining three years, helping lead the team to an NCAA Tournament berth as a junior. Jeremy Lamar Chappell (born June 10, 1987) is an American professional basketball player who last played for New Basket Brindisi of the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) and FIBA Basketball Champions League.
