2006 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The 2006 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 112th staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Kilkenny County Board. The championship began on 24 September 2006 and ended on 5 November 2006. James Stephens were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by O'Loughlin Gaels at the semi-final stage. On 5 November 2006, Ballyhale Shamrcks won the title after a 1–22 to 2–11 defeat of O'Loughlin Gaels in the final at Nowlan Park. It was their 10th championship title overall and their first title since 1991. David Buggy
David Joseph Buggy (born 20 March 1975) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Erin's Own and was also a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lined out in the forwards. Career Buggy first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Erin's Own club in Castlecomer before quickly joining the club's top adult teams as a dual player. He enjoyed County Intermediate Championship successes in 2003 and 2008. Buggy first appeared on the inter-county scene with the Kilkenny minor team and scored 1-03 against Galway in the 1993 All-Ireland final. His subsequent tenure with the Kilkenny under-21 team saw defeat by Tipperary in the 1995 All-Ireland final. Buggy was drafted onto the Kilkenny senior hurling team by manager Ollie Walsh in 1994, however, he remained on the fringes of the team for a number of seasons without making a breakthrough. Henry Shefflin
Henry Shefflin (born 11 January 1979) is an Irish hurling manager and former player who is the current manager of the Galway senior hurling team. In his playing career he was nicknamed "King Henry" because of his directive style, dominance, competitive spirit and leadership on the field. A versatile forward who started out in the corner, Shefflin made his name in more commanding positions as a centre or full-forward. He is widely regarded to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, with many former players, commentators and fans rating him as the number one player of all time. Freshford () is a village and former town in the barony of Crannagh, County Kilkenny, Ireland. History The village is the site of a monastery dating to the early 7th century. The Irish name ''achadh úr'' has historically been anglicised as ''Aghour'' (1318) ''Achure'' (1480) ''Achour'' (1480) ''Awchoor'' (1905), and similar. Carrickshock GAA
Carrickshock is an Irish Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the south of County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1928 when the teams from Hugginstown and Knockmoylan were amalgamated in commemoration of the Battle of Carrickshock, 1831. Carrickshock have had success in the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship, winning the competition seven times. Their record of four county titles in a row between 1940 and 1943 remained unbroken until 2009 when Ballyhale Shamrocks won their 4th title in succession. Callan, County Kilkenny
Callan () is a town and civil parish in County Kilkenny in Ireland. Situated 16 km (10 mi) south of Kilkenny on the N76 road to Clonmel, it is near the border with County Tipperary. It is the second largest town in the county, and had a population of 2,475 at the 2016 census. Callan is the chief town of the barony of the same name. History and name Callan was founded by William the Marshal in 1207 and reputedly gets its name from the High King of Ireland, Niall Caille.
