2006 IIHF European Women's Champions Cup
The 2006 IIHF European Women's Champions Cup was the third holding of the IIHF European Women's Champions Cup. AIK IF Solna of Sweden's ''Riksserien'' won the tournament for the third consecutive time. An additional group was introduced in the Qualification of this tournament, adding four teams and bringing the total number of participating teams to seventeen from sixteen countries. As the defending cup holders, AIK IF progressed directly to the Super Final and did not participate in the Qualification. Like the other IIHF tournaments in the 2006–07 season, games in this year's tournament could no longer end in a tie. If no winner was determined after overtime, the game would progress to a shootout. The change necessitated a reassessment of points awarded for match outcomes: three points were awarded for a regulation win, two points for an overtime/shootout win, one point for a regulation loss, and no points/zero points for an overtime/shootout loss. Allmänna Idrottsklubben Ishockeyförening (abbreviated ''AIK IF'', also known as ''AIK Hockey'', often abbreviated ''AIK'' in hockey subjects), is the ice hockey department of sports club Allmänna Idrottsklubben based in Stockholm, Sweden. HK Martin is a professional ice hockey team playing in the second highest league (Slovak 1. Liga) in Slovakia. History The club was established in 1932 as Slávia Martin. Later the name was changed to Sokol, ŠK, ZŤS, Hutník, Martimex ZŤS, Martimex and MHC Martin (2000–2010). Herlev Hornets
The Herlev Hornets were a Danish professional ice hockey team playing in the top Danish ice hockey league AL-Bank Ligaen. The team is located in the Copenhagen suburb of Herlev. In 2011, the team returned to the top Danish league following a two-year hiatus due to financial problems. The team's new moniker is Eagles, having previously been known as Hornets. Vålerenga Ishockey (; abbreviated as VIF) is a Norwegian ice hockey team based in Oslo, Norway. Vålerenga has been the dominant force in Norwegian hockey since the 1960s, claiming 26 national championships and 29 regular season titles.
