2006 FIFA World Cup Qualification (inter-confederation Play-offs)
For the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification, there were two scheduled inter-confederation play-offs to determine the final two qualification spots to the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Qualified teams The four teams participating were: Format The draw for the order in which the two matches were played was held on 10 September 2005 during the FIFA Congress in Marrakech, Morocco. Mark Bresciano
Mark Bresciano ( ; ; born 11 February 1980) is an Australian former professional soccer player who played as a midfielder. Born in Melbourne, Bresciano played youth football for Bulleen Lions, before moving into the National Soccer League with Carlton. In 1999, he moved to Italian Serie B side Empoli, beginning a twelve-year stay in the country. In 2002, he moved to the Serie A with Parma, later playing for Palermo and SS Lazio. From 2011, he spent the final four years of his career in the Middle East, first with UAE Pro League side Al Nasr and then Qatar Stars League club Al-Gharafa where he last played in 2015. Mark Shield
Mark Shield (born 2 September 1973) is a former Australian soccer referee who officiated in the top tier of Australian soccer between 1995 and 2005. Shield was FIFA listed between 1999 and 2008, and was in control of matches at the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup finals. He refereed the finals of the 2006 AFC Champions League and the 2007 AFC Asian Cup. After retiring, he served as national director of referees.
