2005–06 Pittsburgh Panthers Men's Basketball Team
The 2005–06 Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team represented the University of Pittsburgh in the 2005–06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by head coach Jamie Dixon, the Panthers finished with a record of 25–8 and made it to the second round of the 2006 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. Jamie Dixon
James Patrick Dixon II (born November 10, 1965) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the TCU Horned Frogs men's team, where he played college ball. He previously served as the head coach of the University of Pittsburgh men's basketball team from 2003 through 2016. In 2009, he was the head coach for the FIBA Under-19 2009 gold-medal winning United States national basketball team for which he was named the 2009 USA Basketball National Coach of the Year. Dixon was named Big East Coach of the Year in 2004, Naismith College Coach of the Year in 2009, Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year in 2010, and the ''Sporting News'' National Coach of the Year award in 2011. Dixon played college basketball at Texas Christian University, was selected by the Washington Bullets in the 1987 NBA draft, and played professionally with the Continental Basketball Association's Lacrosse Catbirds and for Hawke's Bay Hawks of the New Zealand National Basketball League. Barry Rohrssen
Barry "Slice" Rohrssen (born June 24, 1960) is an American college basketball coach and the former head men's basketball coach at Manhattan College. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he was named the 22nd head coach in Manhattan Jaspers basketball history on April 25, 2006. Rohrssen was fired on March 9, 2011, after going 58–95 over five seasons. He has also served as an assistant under John Calipari at Kentucky and at St. John's University under Chris Mullin. Prior to being appointed at Manhattan, Rohrssen served as an assistant coach at St. Francis College (his alma mater), the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), and the University of Pittsburgh. He was later promoted to associate head coach at Pittsburgh. He is well known for his ability as a recruiter (particularly in New York City) and was directly responsible for opening the pipeline from New York City to Pittsburgh. Joe Lombardi (basketball)
Joe Lombardi (born November 7, 1959) is an American basketball coach currently the head coach for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Crimson Hawks of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in NCAA Division II. Prior to taking the head coaching position at IUP, Lombardi served as an assistant coach, including a nine-year tenure at La Salle University and three season under Jamie Dixon at the University of Pittsburgh. In his fourth season with the Crimson Hawks in 2009–10, Lombardi led the team to the 2010 NCAA Men's Division II Basketball Tournament, 2010 NCAA Men's Division II Basketball Championship where they were defeated by the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos.
