2005–06 Ohio Bobcats Women's Basketball Team
The 2005–06 Ohio Bobcats women's basketball team represented Ohio University during the 2005–06 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bobcats, led by seventh year head coach Lynn Bria, in her final year, played their home games at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio as a member of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 9–20 and 5–11 in MAC play. Preseason The preseason poll was announced by the league office on October 26, 2005. Ohio was picked fourth in the MAC East. Lynn Bria
Lynn Bria (born August 1, 1968) is an American basketball coach who as of 2023 is the head coach of the Stetson Hatters women's basketball team. Prior to being named the head coach at Stetson, Bria served in head coaching roles at Ohio, UCF, and Texas Woman's University. Convocation Center (Ohio University)
The Convocation Center is a 13,000-seat multi-purpose arena that is home to the Ohio Bobcats basketball, volleyball, and wrestling teams. History The Convocation Center, also known locally as "The Convo," was designed by architecture firm Brubaker/Brandt of Columbus, Ohio and built by Knowlton Construction Company of Bellefontaine, Ohio. The first men's basketball game in the arena featured an 80–70 Ohio victory over the Indiana Hoosiers on December 3, 1968. The arena houses offices for the Ohio Athletics Department, numerous coaches' offices, team locker rooms, and athletic training rooms. 2005–06 Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Season
The 2005–06 Mid-American Conference women's basketball season began with practices in October 2005, followed by the start of the 2005–06 NCAA Division I women's basketball season in November. Conference play began in January 2006 and concluded in March 2006. Bowling Green won the regular season title with a record of 16–0 by one game over West Division champion Eastern Michigan. Lindsay Shearer of Kent State shared MAC player of the year. Regular season champion Bowling Green won the MAC tournament over Kent State. Ali Mann of Bowling Green was the tournament MVP. 2006 MAC Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2006 Mid-American Conference women's basketball tournament was the post-season basketball tournament for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) 2005–06 college basketball season. The 2006 tournament was held March 4–11, 2006. Regular season champion Bowling Green won their second straight championship over Kent State. Ali Mann of Bowling Green was the MVP. Format The top two seeds in each division received byes into the quarterfinals. The first round was played at campus sites. All other rounds were held at Quicken Loans Arena.
