2005–06 Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2005–06 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2005, followed by the start of the 2005–06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in January 2007 and concluded in March 2007. Kent State won the regular season title with a conference record of 15–3 over second-place Akron and Miami. Kent State defeated seventh-seeded Toledo in the MAC tournament final and represented the MAC in the NCAA tournament. There they lost in the first round to Pittsburgh. Preseason awards The preseason poll was announced by the league office on October 26, 2005. 2005–06 Kent State Golden Flashes Men's Basketball Team
The 2005–06 Kent State Golden Flashes men's basketball team represented Kent State University as a member of the Mid-American Conference during the 2005–06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by fourth-year head coach Jim Christian, the Flashes reached the 2006 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament under the third different head coach in a six-year span. After finishing atop the MAC East division in the regular season standings, Kent State won the 2006 MAC men's basketball tournament, MAC tournament to receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Maurice Acker
Maurice Acker (born June 25, 1987) is an American professional basketball player who played for Lille Métropole BC. He was a standout college player for the Marquette Golden Eagles. He played high school basketball at Hillcrest High School, a teammate of Marquette alumni Jerel McNeal. He was drafted in the eighth round of the 2010 NBA D League Draft by the Bakersfield Jam, but was waived in November of that year. College career Maurice averaged 9.2 points, 4.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 31.7 minutes and started in all 28 games as a freshman at Ball State University. Jim Christian
James Patrick Christian (born February 6, 1965) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the Canisius Golden Griffins. He previously served as the head coach at Boston College, Kent State, TCU and Ohio. Playing career Christian was born in Bethpage, New York. He was an all-state guard at St. Dominic High School in nearby Oyster Bay while playing under Ralph Willard, who later was the head coach at Western Kentucky, Pittsburgh, and Holy Cross. Following his prep career, Christian was recruited by coach Rick Pitino at Boston University where he played two seasons before transferring to the University of Rhode Island. Joseph David Reitz (born August 24, 1985) is a former American football offensive tackle who played for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He attended Western Michigan University where he played college basketball and not football. Mychal Green (born January 15, 1983, in Columbus, Ohio, United States ) is an American professional basketball player. He is a 6'4" guard and plays for the Glasgow Rocks. Green played his first two years of collegiate basketball for the Ohlone College Renegades in California. In 2004–05, he then transferred to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. The 2005–06 Eastern Michigan Eagles men's basketball team represented Eastern Michigan University during the 2005–06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.
