2005–06 Juventus FC Season
The 2005–06 season was Juventus FC's 108th in existence and 104th consecutive season in the top flight of Italian football before the 2006 Italian football scandal stripped the club of its previous league title, as well as this season's league title, later awarded to Internazionale, and relegated to Serie B. Following the enforced relegation, Juventus lost Fabio Cannavaro and Emerson to Real Madrid, Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta to Barcelona, Adrian Mutu to Fiorentina, and Patrick Vieira and Zlatan Ibrahimović to Internazionale. The rest of the squad did however stay including Alessandro Del Piero, Gianluigi Buffon, Pavel Nedvěd, David Trezeguet, Giorgio Chiellini, and Mauro Camoranesi, for the following 2006–07 Serie B. 2006 Italian Football Scandal
''Calciopoli'' () was a sports scandal in Italy's top professional association football league Serie A, and to a lesser extent, Serie B. The scandal centered on the manipulation of referee appointments to favor certain clubs during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. It was uncovered in May 2006, when a number of telephone tappings showed relations between clubs' executives and referee organizations, being accused of selecting favourable referees. This implicated league champions Juventus and several other clubs, including Fiorentina, Lazio, AC Milan, and Reggina. In July 2006, Juventus was stripped of the 2004–05 Serie A title, which was left unassigned, and was downgraded to last place in the 2005–06 Serie A, as the title was subsequently awarded to Inter Milan, and relegated to Serie B. Alessandro Del Piero
Alessandro Del Piero (; born 9 November 1974) is an Italian former professional footballer who mainly played as a second striker, although he was capable of playing in several offensive positions. Gianluca Zambrotta (; born 19 February 1977) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a full-back or as a wide midfielder, on both the left and right wings.
