2005 WAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2005 WAC men's basketball tournament was held in the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada between Tuesday, March 8, and Saturday, March 12. The winners of the tournament were the #2 seeded UTEP. This was the final season before the conference was restructured before the 2005–06 season. Lawlor Events Center
Lawlor Events Center is northern Nevada's largest multi-purpose arena. It is located in Reno, Nevada at the intersection of North Virginia Street and 15th Street on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. It is named after former athletic director, baseball, basketball and football coach Jake Lawlor. It was built in 1983 and has a capacity of 12,000 including 11,536 multi-purpose seats. Lawlor is home to the Nevada Wolf Pack basketball teams, and also hosts boxing, concerts, conferences, PBR events, rodeos, WWE and other entertainment events. Doc Sadler
Kenneth Lee "Doc" Sadler (born June 12, 1960) is an American college basketball coach. He was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Southern Mississippi (Southern Miss), a position he held from 2014 through the 2018-19 season. Sadler served as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) from 2004 to 2006 and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln from 2006 to 2012. Filiberto Rivera (born September 28, 1982), also known as "Fili", is a Puerto Rican professional basketball player for Gigantes de Carolina of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN), in Puerto Rico. The 2005 NCAA conference realignment was initiated by the movement of three Big East Conference teams (Boston College, University of Miami, and Virginia Tech) to the Atlantic Coast Conference, which set events into motion that created a realignment in college football, as 23 teams changed conferences and Army became an independent. 2004–05 Nevada Wolf Pack Men's Basketball Team
The 2004–05 Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team represented the University of Nevada, Reno during the 2003–04 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolf Pack, led by former assistant and first-year head coach Mark Fox, played their home games at the Lawlor Events Center on their campus in Reno, Nevada as members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). After finishing atop the conference regular season standings, Nevada was upset in the quarterfinal round of the WAC tournament, but did receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 9 seed in the Chicago Region. The Wolf Pack defeated Texas in the opening round before falling to No. 1 overall seed and eventual National runner-up Illinois in the round of 32.
