Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur defeated Elena Dementieva and Flavia Pennetta in the final, 6–2, 5–7, 6–3 to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2005 US Open. Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suárez were the reigning champions, but Suárez withdrew due to a back injury. Lisa Raymond (born August 10, 1973) is an American former professional tennis player who has achieved notable success in doubles tennis. Raymond has eleven major titles to her name: six in women's doubles and five in mixed doubles. On June 12, 2000, she reached the world No. 1 ranking in doubles for the first time, becoming the 13th player to reach the milestone. Corina Maria Morariu (born January 26, 1978) is an American former professional tennis player. Morariu (pronounced: mo-RA-R'ju) was born in Detroit, Michigan and is of Romanian descent. Francesca Schiavone
Francesca Schiavone (; born 23 June 1980) is an Italian former professional tennis player. She had career-high rankings of world No. 4 in women's singles and No. 8 in women's doubles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Schiavone won eight WTA Tour-level singles titles, including a major at the 2010 French Open, the first Italian woman to win a singles major. To date, Schiavone is the last one-handed backhand player to win a major women's title. Schiavone was also runner-up in singles at the 2011 French Open and in women's doubles at the 2008 French Open. Nicole Pratt (born 5 March 1973) is a retired tennis player from Australia. Pratt was born in Mackay, Queensland. She is the middle sibling of five children of cane farmers and was taught to play by her father, George, who was a top junior player. Katarina Srebotnik (born 12 March 1981) is a Slovenian former professional tennis player. She reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 20, on 7 August 2006. is a Japanese former tennis player. She turned professional in 1997, and retired in 2006. Career 2000 was the first year in which she finished in the WTA top 100 (No. 72). At the US Open that year, she defeated Patty Schnyder, a top-50 player.
