The 2005 Batman Begins 400 (named after the 2005 film of the same name for sponsorship reasons was a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series racing event held on June 19, 2005, at Michigan International Speedway in the American community of Brooklyn, Michigan. Run over 200 laps, the race was the fifteenth in the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series season and took place on the same date of the controversial 2005 United States Grand Prix that Michael Schumacher would dominate. In a motorsports race, the pole position is usually the best and "statistically the most advantageous" starting position on the track. The pole position is usually earned by the driver with the best qualifying times in the trials before the race, although penalties may award it to the second fastest driver, as the pole position is statistically awarded to the driver starting in first position. Pickup truck racing events in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series have been held at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan in 1999 and 2020, and is scheduled to return to the track in 2025. Richard Allen Craven (born May 24, 1966) is an American stock car racing analyst and former driver. Prior to his broadcasting duties, he was a NASCAR driver who won in four different series—the ARCA Menards Series, and the three national series. Mark Anthony Martin (born January 9, 1959), nicknamed "the Kid", is an American former stock car racing driver. In motorsport, a safety car, or a pace car, is a car that limits the speed of competing cars or motorcycles on a racetrack in the case of a ''caution period,'' such as an obstruction on the track or bad weather.
