2005–06 PBA Fiesta Conference
The 2005-06 Philippine Basketball Association Fiesta Conference or known as the 2005-06 San Mig Coffee PBA Fiesta Conference for sponsorship reasons, is the first conference of the 2005-06 PBA season. It started on October 2, 2005, and ended on February 19, 2006. The tournament has five rounds, the survivor playoff, the wildcard playoffs, quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. All nine teams are included in the playoffs. PBA On ABC
''PBA on ABC'' (later renamed as ''PBA on TV5'') is a Philippine television sports presentation show broadcast by ABC/TV5. It aired from February 22, 2004 to August 20, 2008, replacing '' Ispup'' and ''Friday Box Office'' and was replaced by '' Lokomoko'', '' Lipgloss'' and ''HushHush''. The consist of branding used for presentation of Philippine Basketball Association. History Due to poor performance and disappointing ratings, the PBA disbanded a broadcasting consortium between the National Broadcasting Network and the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation after the 2003 season, and took bids on a new broadcast contract for the league. In January 2004, the PBA began a contract with the Associated Broadcasting Company to broadcast PBA games for one year, beating bids from Solar Sports and former Vintage Television owner Bobong Velez’s attempt to form GMA Network’s sports division. Omar Weaver
Umar ibn al-Khattab (; ), also spelled Omar, was the second Rashidun caliph, ruling from August 634 until his assassination in 644. He succeeded Abu Bakr () and is regarded as a senior companion and father-in-law of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Initially, Umar opposed Muhammad, who was his distant Qurayshite kinsman. Leonard White (basketball)
Leonard White (born February 21, 1971) is an American former professional basketball player. He is listed at 6'7" and weighed 224 lbs. Born in Century, Florida, White started playing collegiate ball with the Faulkner State Community College (1989–1991) and is still the all-time leading scorer of the Sun Chiefs with a 22.7 ppg average. He later transferred to Southern University (1991–1993) and led the Jaguars in scoring his last two years there. White entered the 1993 NBA draft and was picked 53rd in the second round by the Los Angeles Clippers; however, he was not signed and never got to play in the NBA. He played a few games in the French professional league in Pau Orthez but it is in the CBA where White will be making his mark in his professional basketball career as one of the league leaders in statistics for games played, minutes played, scoring, rebounds and steals. James Penny (basketball)
James Penny (died 1799) was an English merchant and slave trader who was a prominent defender of the Liverpool slave trade. The famous Penny Lane street in Liverpool has been associated with him although it is now widely regarded as of an unconnected origin. Early life Penny was probably not a native of Liverpool and may have been born in Ulverston, Cumbria. He came to Liverpool to work as a mariner and was married to Ann Cooper in 1768. He is subsequently referred to as a mariner, ship's captain and merchant in Liverpool directories. Penny was active in the Atlantic slave trade until the American Revolutionary War. He returned to the trade after the war as a shipowner and as a business partner with other traders. Omar Abdul Thomas (born February 27, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. Early years Thomas was born in Philadelphia. Having taken the first steps to Strawberry Mansion High School and at Panola Junior College (Texas), passes to the prestigious University of Texas El Paso (UTEP), taking leave in 2005 with figures of all respect. Chris Porter (basketball)
Christopher Bernard Porter (born May 9, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. Known for his large afro hairstyle and giant vertical leap, he created excitement early in his career with his dunking and rebounding abilities. Largely seen as too undersized to play power forward at the NBA level, his style fit in perfectly with coach Cliff Ellis' style of full court pressure while playing college basketball for the Auburn Tigers. Odell Bradley (born September 6, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. He was a forward in the United States Basketball League and the Continental Basketball Association. Early life Bradley was born September 6, 1981, in Nashville, Tennessee. He played basketball at White Creek High School. Damian Cantrell
Damian Heath Cantrell (born May 17, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player. High school career Cantrell attended Santa Clara High School, where he was a standout athlete: he was named Athlete of the Year in his senior year in 1994 and received All-State Division IV honors. Coached by Lou Cvijanovich, he played both the guard and forward positions in high school; during his junior year he was a reserve, but a growth spurt from 6 ft 1 in to 6 ft 4 in helped him improve his game, and he averaged 22.5 points and 8.4 rebounds in his last year at Santa Clara, showing remarkable rebounding skills and a good 3-point shot.
