Wales Millennium Centre
Wales Millennium Centre () is Wales' national arts centre located in the Cardiff Bay area of Cardiff, Wales. The site covers a total area of . Phase 1 of the building was opened during the weekend of 26–28 November 2004 and phase 2 opened on 22 January 2009 with an inaugural concert. The centre is Cardiff's principal receiving venue for large-scale opera, ballet, contemporary dance and musicals. It comprises a large theatre and a smaller hall with a shop, bars and a café. It houses the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales and opera, dance, theatre and literature companies, with a total of eight arts organisations in residence. In These Stones Horizons Sing
''In These Stones, Horizons Sing'' is a work for baritone, chorus, and orchestra composed by Karl Jenkins. It was commissioned for the opening of Wales Millennium Centre and first performed at its opening in November 2004. The work includes text in both English and Welsh written by Menna Elfyn, Grahame Davies, and Gwyneth Lewis. Structure The work is divided into four short movements; the first movement is further divided into two parts. A typical performance takes 10–15 minutes. Sir Karl William Pamp Jenkins, , Honorary Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales, HonFLSW (born 17 February 1944) is a Welsh multi-instrumentalist and composer. His best known works include the song "Adiemus (song), Adiemus" (1995, from the Adiemus (albums), ''Adiemus'' album series), ''Palladio (Jenkins), Palladio'' (1995), ''The Armed Man'' (2000), his Requiem (Jenkins), Requiem (2005) and his Stabat Mater (Jenkins), Stabat Mater (2008). Jenkins was educated in music at Cardiff University and the Royal Academy of Music, and he is a fellow and an associate of the latter. He joined the jazz-rock band Soft Machine in 1972 and became the group's lead songwriter in 1974. He continued to work with Soft Machine until 1984, but has not been involved with any incarnation of the group since. "Some Girls" is a song by British singer Rachel Stevens from the 2004 reissue of her debut solo studio album, ''Funky Dory'' (2003). It was written by Richard X and Hannah Robinson, and produced by the former, with additional production from Pete Hoffman. It was also included on Stevens' second studio album, '' Come and Get It'' (2005). The song's music features a schaffel beat influenced by glam rock, and its lyrics describe a pop singer who performs sexual favours in her efforts to achieve stardom. The song was released on 12 July 2004 as a charity single for Sport Relief. "Some Girls" entered and peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart. Rachel Lauren Stevens (born 9 April 1978) is an English singer and actress. She has been a member of the pop group S Club, which was active from 1998 to 2003, and has reformed once again since 2023. She released her solo debut studio album ''Funky Dory'' in September 2003. S Club
S Club, formerly known as S Club 7, are a British pop music, pop group formed in 1998 by Simon Fuller after he was fired as manager of the Spice Girls. Original members were Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee (actor), Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara, Hannah Spearritt and Rachel Stevens. Cattermole left the group in 2002; it disbanded in 2003. After the members performed solo and in smaller groups, the group reunited temporarily for a short tour in 2015.
