2004 NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Tournament
The 2004 NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship was the 20th annual tournament to determine the national champions of NCAA Division II men's college lacrosse in the United States. The final was played at M&T Bank Stadium, the home stadium of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens, in Baltimore, Maryland. The final was held in Baltimore alongside the championship games of the Division I and Division III NCAA men's lacrosse tournaments. College Lacrosse
College lacrosse is played by student-athletes at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. In both countries, men's field lacrosse and women's lacrosse are played at both the varsity and club levels. 2004 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship
The 2004 NCAA Division I lacrosse tournament was the 34th annual tournament hosted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association to determine the team champion of men's college lacrosse among its Division I programs, held at the end of the 2004 NCAA Division I men's lacrosse season. Syracuse won the championship with a 14–13 win over Navy. The Orange, led by senior Michael Powell, scored the game winner with one minute left in the fourth quarter, claiming their eighth national title. Powell finished the game with one goal and five assists. Syracuse outscored Navy 3–1 in the final five minutes to overcome a 12-11 fourth-quarter deficit. Navy got the ball back with 15 seconds left, but could not get a shot off. NYIT Bears Men's Lacrosse
The New York Tech Bears refer to the mascot and sports teams of the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), located in Old Westbury, New York, United States. All of New York Tech's teams compete in NCAA Division II. The Bears are part of the East Coast Conference (ECC). Tech is best known for its men's lacrosse team, which has won four NCAA Division II national championships. Tech also sent several runners to the Olympic Games, in 1980, 1988, 1992, and in 2000. NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship
The NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship is the annual championship in men's lacrosse held by the NCAA for teams competing in Division III. After the inauguration of the NCAA Division I championship in 1971, the USILA added a "small college" tournament for two years for all non-Division I schools. Hobart defeated Washington College 15-12 to win the 1972 USILA title. And Cortland State beat Washington College to win the 1973 title, 13-8. The NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament determines the annual top men's field lacrosse team in the NCAA Division I. This tournament has determined the national champion since the inaugural 1971 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship. From 1936 through 1970, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) awarded the Wingate Memorial Trophy annually to the collegiate champion based on regular season records. NCAA Division II (D-II) is an intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It offers an alternative to both the larger and better-funded Division I and to the scholarship-free environment offered in Division III. Before 1973, the NCAA's smaller schools were grouped together in the College Division. In 1973, the College Division split in two when the NCAA began using numeric designations for its competitions.
