2004 Cork Senior Football Championship
The 2004 Cork Senior Football Championship was the 116th staging of the Cork Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork GAA, Cork County Board in 1887 Cork Senior Football Championship, 1887. The draw for the opening fixtures took place on 14 December 2003. The championship began on 7 April 2004 and ended on 17 October 2004. Castlehaven GAA, Castlehaven entered the championship as the 2003 Cork Senior Football Championship, defending champions, however, they were beaten by Mallow GAA, Mallow in round 4. On 17 October 2004, Carbery GAA, Carbery won the championship following a 1-11 to 0-07 defeat of Bishopstown GAA, Bishopstown in the final. This was their fourth championship title overall and their first title since 1971 Cork Senior Football Championship, 1971. Ilen Rovers is a Gaelic football club in County Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated to Cork GAA and Carbery GAA divisional boards. Munster Technological University Cork GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the Munster Technological University in Bishopstown, Cork, Ireland. The club fields teams in a range of competitions in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Gaelic games were first played at the then Cork Regional Technical College when a student Gaelic football team was established in 1975. A student hurling team was set up the following year. The staff of the RTC Cork also had an active GAA club, and competed in various inter-firm hurling and football competitions. Skibbereen
Skibbereen (; ) is a town in County Cork, Ireland. It is located in West Cork on the N71 national secondary road. The River Ilen runs through the town; it reaches the sea about 12 kilometres away, at the seaside village of Baltimore. Located in a tourist area, Tragumna beach is nearby. Bandon (; ) is a town in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It lies on the River Bandon between two hills. The name in Irish means 'Bridge of the Bandon', a reference to the origin of the town as a crossing point on the river. In 2004 Bandon celebrated its quatercentenary. Bandon GAA is a Gaelic football and Hurling club based in Bandon, County Cork, Bandon in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Newcestown GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Newcestown, County Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the West Cork Board and fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Located in the village of Newcestown, about 8 miles from Bandon, Newcestown GAA Club was founded on 17 December 1958 and played its first game, against Kilmeen, in the spring of 1959. Ballinacurra
Ballinacurra () is a small harbour village on the outskirts of Midleton, County Cork. It is about 18 km south east of Cork city. The village lies at the confluence of the Owenacurra River and the east channel of Cork Harbour. It served as the port for the town of Midleton, which is less than 2 km north of Ballinacurra, for centuries and became a loading and unloading point for coal, timber, iron and slate and later flax for the linen industry. The port of Ballinacurra closed in 1962 as it was deemed too expensive to dredge the growing levels of silt and mud at the entrance to the small harbour. Youghal GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Youghal, in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club fields both Hurling and Gaelic football teams and also has junior camogie and ladies football teams. The club is a member of Cork GAA and Imokilly GAA, Imokilly divisional board. History In 1891, the men of Youghal formed the Youghal GAA Football club (Cumann Luthcleas Gael Eochaill). Organised Gaelic football was played in Bill Farrell's field at Frogmore. The club then transferred to another field up towards the Asylum Cross in 1894, and to Copperalley in 1899. O'Donovan Rossa or Skibbereen is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in Skibbereen, County Cork, Ireland. It participates in Cork GAA competitions. Traditionally, the club has been much more successful in Gaelic football. It won its only Cork Senior Football Championship in 1992 and subsequently won the 1992–93 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship after beating Éire Óg of Carlow in the final replay.
