2004 CONCACAF Men's Pre-Olympic Tournament
The 2004 CONCACAF Men's Pre-Olympic Tournament was the eleventh edition of the CONCACAF Pre-Olympic Tournament, the quadrennial, international, age-restricted football tournament organised by CONCACAF to determine which men's under-23 national teams from the North, Central America and Caribbean region qualify for the Olympic football tournament. It was held in Mexico, from 2 and 12 February 2004. Host nation, Mexico, won the title after a 1–0 win over Costa Rica in the final. As the top two teams, Mexico and Costa Rica both qualified for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Greece as the CONCACAF representatives. Emil Martínez
Emil José Martínez Cruz (; (born 17 September 1982) is a Honduran former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Martínez made his professional debut for Marathón and played abroad for Alajuelense in the Primera División de Costa Rica and Primera División de México side Indios. Also, he was attached to several clubs in Chinese Super League, including Shanghai Shenhua, Beijing Guoan and Hangzhou Greentown. In January 2012 he joined Hunan Billows. The Caribbean Football Union (CFU) is the representative organization for football (soccer), football associations in the Caribbean. The Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol (Central American Football Union), more commonly known by the acronym UNCAF, represents the national football teams of Central America: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. The association football (soccer) tournament at the 1984 Summer Olympics started on July 29 and ended on August 11, taking place throughout the United States. It was the first Olympic soccer competition in which officially professional players were allowed. Until then, the amateur-only rule had heavily favored socialist countries from the Eastern Bloc whose players were professionals in all but name.
